I think the silver lamp would work even better with a different shade that is less vertical. I actually like the purple fur throw with the round pillow of the same color.

The fur comforter, printed curtains, shag rug and silver lamps are heading towards a 60's feel, but if that is the look you are wanting, the room is coming together. Personally, I don't care for the drapery and a solid linen would be so much nicer and even consider roman blinds. I would go for a classic look in your bedding to compliment your furniture (see below). The wall color is fine and just use complimentary pillows (longer pillow would be lovely) and since you sew, you could have so many lovely fabric choices. I find the lamps are too shiny/skiny and tall. I would move the smaller furniture piece back to where it was and add the mirror + chair for a pretty dressing table. If you want a rug, I would use an overdyed style that has subdued colors and you could add a set of prints above your dresser. The ideas below may not be where you would like to head, but I think it would be a beautiful room.

Are you not planning on having a chair or chaise in the room? The drapery panel seems a little too sporty/casual for the room. Why not use a solid white since you like to change your bedding frequently?

The rug has wonderful texture, but you need a much bigger rug, such as a 9 x 12.

What do you guys think about these lights?

They are on sale and I think they could look pretty glam, especially if I paint the wall a rich dark color. I've been leaning towards getting wall sconces instead of table lamps because I want to save the space on the night stands --- those darn lamp bases take up so much space. I guess a floor lamp could work too... Maybe?

If you are brave enough I would paint walls with Benjamin Moore Iron Mountain...it is a wonderful charcoal gray..if you hit my link I have a clients house that used it in his kitchen and the tray ceiling in his family room..really a dramatic color..he loved purple so that was his accent color.

Hey guys! I'm back and ready to finish this master bedroom. I made some changes:
1.) I replaced the mirrored dresser with a black and white dressed.
2.) I took off those white rectangular bedside lights hat everyone seemed to hate
3.) I'm trying out black lampshades but not sure I'm crazy about it. I think I'd rather paint the wall a dark color and keep the lights white/silver/neutral

4.) I moved the mirrored vanity table to the corner and turned it into a jewelry table. I didn't have the proper space for all my accessories anyway so this works better for me.
5.) I put a bunch of "stuff" that didn't have a home into the corner of the bedroom. I'm sure you guys are going to tell me to move it....

@zzmom -- I do like that gray color. But I just bought a duvet cover from west elm that is very similar to it. I guess I have until January to return it..

How about an accent wall behind the bed? I like the dark plum color of the duvet you had spread across your bed.

I find bedrooms the hardest to give advice...so personal. Knowing what little I do about you I have just two photos to give you a bit of inspiration:

purple! I do not mind the white lamps, you just need some depth.

purple! Crystal lamps and a floating rug would be fabulous. I would suggest concentrating on the bed area first then go from there.

Wow major props to you! Just a flurry of paint activity over there! Then you move furniture around and decorate- so no critique from me (as I sit on the couch dipping cookies into my coffee). But if that zebra rug should just so happen to wind up in here, then wow wow wow!

Maybe a hot pink or a coral might look nice behind bed. If you decide to use those curtains, I would scoot them to each side so that not as much of the fabric covers the window.

I didn't really care for the patterned curtains anyway. I think I still like the ones I originally had up (the crinkles ivory and cool grey). I also tried the zebra rug in here and a new mirror that got voted out of my dining room.

I was going to say the same about the rug. It gives a little more interest to the room. I'm not crazy about the items in the two corner, especially the tall skinny one in the left corner. I might try the tall black vase in the right corner without that gold trim hanging around the vase, and possibly add one more flower to fill the vase a little more. You considering any art? I think you walls need a little art.

I might even try edging the round black mirror with some silver edging or even spray paint it silver. I think it's a little stark looking.

The big vase of flowers in the corner and the round mirror don't work for me in this room, but the zebra rug is awesome! Just slide it under the bed near half way then place the zebra chair on footstool on the zebra rug, to the left of the bed. Remove the other rugs.

AND footstool, not on.

A few weeks ago, Carolyn suggested that I have more seating in the bedroom. So I temporarily moved this gigantic red (soon to be painted white) futon into the room. I know it's too big not to mention the wrong color.. But was this the original idea? To have more seating by the window??

Elian, some people like putting a chair or two, or a bench at the foot of the bed. This gives a place to sit other than the bed. Your futon is too big for the space. If you're happy without the seating, don't include it, your room is beautiful without it!

I vote no on the futon.

Go with Sherrington Williams colonnade grey. It's beautiful in a lot of different lights and looks great with alit of different colors and wood tones! Just my 2 cents!

Go to Sherwin Williams and get a paint chip of colonnade gray and one of worldly gray or look at their website. Colonnade gray looks to have a little bit more of gray tone and wordy grey is a browner gray

I like the chair...not the vase. Place chair in corner with floor lamp and small table/ stool and your good to go. I think a throw folded on the bench at the end of bed would help tone down the white. Still like the idea of the mirror dresser in the dining room if it works.

It needs some artwork. You have made some nice improvements already. Art is the soul of any room and your room needs warmth and soul. I need the dresser. Been thinking about dragging it to the other side of the room actually so that it sits by the window (underneath elephant pic)

I don't need the vanity per say, as I will never actually sit there. However I do need a place to store my jewelry and a counter top to be a catch-all when I don't have time to put something away.

I would remove the chair and end table. They lessen the impact of the rug.
