Yes, definitely. I'll have my husband put some 2 by 4s together to get a better idea of the counter height vs ceiling...If I see that the space is not enough, I might as well leave the small recess lights in the ceiling and no other decorative light?

Yes, there will be a small sink behind the bar, on the counter along the wall (just like in the inspiration photo I posted above). The shelves will have LED strip lighting inside (imagine the shelving as a box with the top made out of glass/plexiglass and light inside)

As soon as I get a bit of time (work can get in the way sometimes:)) I will do a mock-up and see how it is. The electrician will have to come one of these days to clarify a few things.
I will most probably post a few more questions regarding lights..sconces in the lounge area, vanity lights (pendants/sconces) vs a back-lit mirror...

Until my husband finds some time to help with the bar mockup, I have to decide on the type of lighting for the bathroom. There will be three 4 inch recess lights, lined up through the center of the room. I am going back and forth regarding the vanity lights. Should I pick pendants, sconces or get a backlit mirror and have another recess light above the vanity?
I am thinking of doing a wide mirror, no frame, about 2ft height and wall to wall width

First photo is from the entrance of the bathroom. Far left is the enclosure for the toilet (husband wanted that). Far right is the enclosure for the pump and some other mechanics..
Left side will be the vanity and across from it, it will be the shower

Second photo shows the vanity area. It will fit a 48inch vanity.

So taste wise what feel will it have. If you want modern, the back light LED mirrors are great.

If you like the look of vanity lights Mirror mounted scones would great on a wall to wall.

Is there a can in the shower and in the water closet?

Style would be modern, but not stark.
For tile, I am looking for something cream..I had a photo of some tile I looked at, but the previous phone died and the photos died with it.
As for lights, yes, there is recess in the shower and each enclosure (toilet and mechanic room) have their own light.

Forgot to mention that the vanity will be something like this, but out of walnut. I still have to look for a sink..hopefully being able to see the real sink and not just photos

ya wall to wall mirror will have a different effect. Personally Im not that big of a fan of single pendants over the sink, you already have over head lighting. if you want pendants. And I think even sconces. I would do three hung lower and to so they are lighting each sink from both sides of the face.

A single pendant wasn't in my plans either. Sorry for confusing you about the sinks..I will only have one sink on a 48 inch base. The photo I posted was for inspiration purposes.
I was looking at having two pendants (one on each side of the sink) or a group of three on one side (staggered). For sconces, if I do a wall to wall mirror, the electrician said that there is a risk that the mirror will crack when they cut the mirror and maybe I should have sconces on the side walls..
For pendants/mirror combination, this is what I had in mind, but I am thinking that my space is not large enough for this

Not yet..the contractor has a few days off and it looks like the electrician is caught up with a few things as well. I will post updates as soon as I can.

Today the electrician came together with another light guy. I mentioned my concern with the space between the ceiling and the bar top and they said that for a such open space, it would be nice to have some kind of pendants to kind of break up the space. The light guy wants to show us some shorter fixtures...I don't know exactly what kind of lights he is thinking of. I am not sure I want to do short pendants...to me it looks awkward...

We managed to find some time and do a mock-up of the bar height and ceiling..The space between the top and the ceiling is not enough to hang anything else. Just to have a comparison, we looked at our kitchen pendants and realized that in order to accommodate pendants for the bar, the length of the pendant wire would be half of what we have in the kitchen..It would look really awkward. So, for the bar area, we decided on recess only. That, in addition to the lighted shelving will be enough.

For the vanity, we simplified the design,,so recess lights as we enter, recess in the shower and one above the vanity. We'll get a back-lit mirror and not add pendants or sconces.

Thanks a lot for your help! I would have never thought to consider this issue. I know the light guy will try to convince me to get some pendants, but I am perfectly fine with a large open space and no pendants:) As soon as there is some progress, I will post more photos. Now I am waiting for the electrician to bring some samples of the recess lights trims (apparently there are some black ones that make the light disappear,,,you see there is light in the room, but the recess it's not obvious on the ceiling)

Any of you know anything about the IB mirrors? I am trying to get a ready made back lit mirror that is 48" wide and about 24 tall for the vanity area.

what if you did two round? is there one sink or two.

the measurements for all of my brands are much less then 48 and more than 24.

black baffles will reduce the glare and suck up some of the light, but they are also black so if you have a white ceiling......(recessed lighting)

quality is why. LED can be cheap bad color and problematic, so go with the one that is more expensive and has the best warranty.

Not much updates since we had to wait for the plumber to finish some work and get the gas line for the generator.
We decided to go with recess lights, puck lights in the bar area, and for the bathroom, we ended up ordering the 40" by 24" back lit mirror. I didn't want to risk having something that doesn't fit..this way, it fits and it will have light diffused on every side of the mirror.

Now we will have to go and see some Coretec planks. I hope we can find something that is not too dark and goes well with the walnut cabinets of the bar,,If anyone has any suggestions, let me know.

I've been looking at many and I was also discussing with some on a different post (there is a discussion about LED lighting) ..one of the problems that I have is that many of these come in 3000K and my recess lights will be 2700K. Initially, we were going to go with Juno puck lights, but they don't dim well (they flicker and buzz at 50%). No I am trying to find some lights that are either slightly recessed or flushed but still modern,
These are three options, but the first, which I really like, only comes in 3000K (they make 2700K only for Europe). The second one I am afraid it would look too big,,
The last one I found yesterday, but I don't find any information as to how much coverage it offers..it doesn't say the beam angle.

3000k is a CRI90 rating, it is what most new code calls for as a measure of light out put, that is why you are not finding a lot of 27K, which is a tad warmer in color therefore less light.

type in LED flush mount 2700k its what is going to take you to what you need.

found one! and dont worry to much about light out put looks like you have a lot of lights going in. dimmers are your friend.

I like these b/c they are low profile, look like recessed, and give good light. they have satin and bronze trim options , but to match the ceiling and other cans, i think white is the way to go. plus they're only 30$

Thanks! For that area (the ductwork area where the ceiling height is 8 ft tall) we will have walnut panels. The reason for having a hard time finding something is because, for a short stretch there is no more than 3" depth for recess. That was the reason for those puck lights. So I am looking for either something that is decorative and has enough light, or for some small recess that won't stick out much
As for dimmers, we will have those. We are actually having a Vantage system installed for the entire basement
