I love that although the cement is all one color and mostly rectangles forming a walking path, the paving was done such that each step has differences in shape and sizes visually breaking up monotony. Nice blend from the grass to pebbles to trees. All around beautiful visually and artfully done. I would love something like this in our yard - something different that takes what could be an ordinary cement walkway. Instead of blandly placing the same 3'x5' rectangles in the grass at slightly different spacing, this landscaper created art, walking back and forth from one end to the other, looking down you see something different as you stroll or hop. Attention to detail. You have the clean lines / borders that Shelly likes and the creativity / artistry that I like.
Pretty hip hang-out area. I like the mix of modern and bohemian with the seating, lamp, water feature. Probably would do a different fireplace or pit though.
Succulent tapestry in Los Angeles. Talk about curb appeal. The layers of blue, gold, bronze and deep purple foliage create a tapestry of color in this Los Angeles front yard. Plants include chartreuse spurge (Euphorbia characias, zones 8 to 11), gold leucadendron, silvery blue fescue (Festuca glauca, zones 4 to 8), spiky bronze New Zealand flax (Phormium sp., zones 8 to 11), dark maroon smoke bush (Cotinus coggygria, zones 5 to 10), and purple ‘Zwartkop’ aeonium (Aeonium arboreum var. atropurpureum ‘Zwartkop’, zones 9 to 10). A carpet of blue chalk sticks (Senecio mandraliscae, zones 9 to 12) covers the ground and acts as a unifying sea of blue in the design. All plants pictured thrive in full sun and with low water.
Like the variety of color and shapes. We used to have the plants in the back corner (look like tall green fluffy Q-Tips) at our previous residence in LA and loved how they looked.

LOVE the infinity edge close to the entrance all around the pool and the bright blue right up against the white stone without any border otherwise shown. Looks like the water starts where the ground ends which I love. If we had travertine stone (spelling?) on parts of our retaining wall or around the BBQ, then having it on the edge of the pool as part of the infinity edge facing the house would tie things together.

Bright slope in San Diego. This sunny, drought-tolerant hillside bed relies on a bright color palette featuring shades of purple, gold, orange and magenta. Clumps of purple Perez’s sea lavender (Limonium perezii, zones 10 to 11) repeat among cascades of gold lantana, orange daylily (Hemerocallis fulva, zones 5 to 10) and magenta bougainvillea (Bougainvillea sp., zones 9 to 11). A cluster of foxtail agaves (Agave attenuatta) acts as a focal point in the center among the billowing flowers.

I like the smooth transition from the walkway / stone to the pool with infinity all around even though only one side of the pool actually drops off. Actually I REALLY like this element in pool design for more modern pools.

Nice step up to level in the grass. Could be a way up to pool area if raised.
Several elements I like: metal retaining wall, cement / light stone with water feature built into it nicely, wood decking as contrast.
I think Shelly may like this one, wanted it here for contrast of colors and materials.
Kind of like this sitting area but would make the fire exposure (not the actual fire place) bigger, change the flooring to more neutral lighter tone stones and slightly simplify the amount of ups / downs everywhere. Nice mix though of wood, cement, fire and plants with some height variations. Nice lighting and cozy sitting area with the wood benches mixed with chairs with the fire area visible from all around.
