Tile wall sits out a bit from the main wall to accommodate the newly placed plumbing. AFTER: A double vanity sits up against a wall covered in white subway tiles. All plumbing, from intake to outtake, had to be routed to this part of the home, which was a huge part of the project, even if it’s all hidden behind walls now. The tiled wall sits out from the main wall a few inches to account for the plumbing. Price says that the tiles on the lower half of this section make the differences in wall depth feel intentional, and the tiles also act as a great backsplash. The vanity itself was created custom to fit the space and reflects the client’s desire to have rustic touches in the room. The finished vanity from Black Market Furniture, Hardware + Lighting features piano wheels welded into place, a fabricated steel base and a bottom shelf made out of reclaimed wood from a barn in western Nebraska. “We involve the client from start to finish,” says Stacey Nicholson, store manager and lead designer for Black Market Furniture. “This client specifically wanted to bring a ‘new look to an old space’ in a bathroom of a home in a historic district.” Paint: Grey Sanctuary, Sherwin-Williams;...
Big Pops of Color The welcoming entry gives some insight into Brant’s style, which she describes as eclectic yet uncluttered and “very clean and simple.” She loves color but prefers to layer pops of bright hues atop a neutral base. The front door is painted in Benjamin Moore’s Anderson Blue.
The choice of the minty green paint color (Breaktime by Sherwin-Williams) came about by chance. Quick had randomly added it to the cabinets in his 3D computer modeling program, using it as a placeholder when he and his colleagues had meetings with the Gennriches. Later they tried playing with different cabinet colors but they kept coming back to the minty green. And it stuck. “I thought we’d have all-white cabinets, but when we saw the mint we thought it looked really nice,” Amy says.

290B-5 Behr paint color Torchlight My favorite colors for ceilings are blue or yellow. Blue mimics the sky and gives a room a calm, expansive feeling. Yellow creates a sunny glow that warms up the entire room, as shown here. If you live in a hot and sunny climate, you probably want to stick to cooler colors, such as blue. But those of you in a cold or overcast climate can bring warmth and brightness into your home with hot yellow and orange hues. The orange used here is quite vibrant and works best as a small accent color — on the headboard and in the bedding.

20. Blurred Lines At first glance, it’s hard to tell if there’s even a kitchen in this stunning great room. The island looks like a buffet table while the white cabinetry effortlessly blends into the wall. A large iron chandelier and slipcovered dining chairs further push the kitchen into the background.
