In this kitchen, designer Kelsey Fehr of Redl World Class Kitchens used clear alder on the island base and for the open shelving (see next photo). The lights hang above an 18-inch-wide freestanding island topped in Calacatta Vagli marble. “We use it every day,” Harris says. “We take stuff from the refrigerator right to the island, and Maddy [Urdal] makes lunches there.”
