Not especially drawn to this bathroom but it does show the mushroom counters so some ideas might be gleaned to do or not to do.

Definitely dark counters but with the strong modern vertical door handles, the other light colors and clean lines it's not a problem. Can't say the room looks cheery but I think that it could be made to be.

Could paint ours similarly with brown drawers and white cabinets with strong vertical silver handles (though the drawers having strong horizontal handles might be a bit too much). The tile color and pattern also help to make this work.

While I would't pick these colors exactly, it shows that a light, grained wood could even go with a strongly patterned floor. Also, if the counter on this had been dark, say one of the deep blues found in the floor, it would have been striking as it could if the counter had been our mushroom one and that color was in the floor. Admittedly, the mushroom color isn't as deep as the blues so there would be less contrast to make it all as striking but it could work to a nice extent.
