Sometimes I picture the sun room as being a little like this -- not in style but in having a couple of comfy chairs and a small stove or fireplace.

I like how the covered part of the porch extends to an uncovered part so you can keep the furniture covered when not using it or at least have the option to be in or out of the sun/weather.

Although this is overly formal for us, it's an interesting idea to have a breezeway on an angle if we want protected winter access to the garage as we age.

Beautiful stone floor - I like the mixed colors and random pattern/sizes of the stones. I also like the door-length working window shutters for what looks like a French door.

Nice columns and simple but nice-looking railing. If you want stone steps, this combo of a mixed stone veneer on the face and large slabs of bluestone is beautiful. I also love the look of a porch ceiling painted a different color than the main trim.

See if you can include in the porch-to-patio design a strong beam for our hanging chairs

What if the dining area was at the back of the house behind the kitchen, with a big garage door and a stone/tile floor that works indoors or out. Cover with a rug in the winter when the garage door is down.

Saving this just as a reminder that I like the cozy feeling of a courtyard space surrounded on three sides. Not sure how I would want to incorporate that feeling as part of a multi-purpose yard.

I don't love everything about this design but saving for the idea of columns on top of a patio space so you have a single-level transition to the patio.

I like the overall feeling of this space -- the warm materials and the Mediterranean feel. I also like the patio paving stones and same-level edging with the lawn.

I like the fully covered porch that fits within the overall footprint of the house. Looks like a convenient connection to the kitchen and easily used for meals.
