Liz likes that the stone on the wall represents a more traditional chimney look to a fireplace. It looks like there is the stone surround and the chimney going up and the rest of the wall is a different material, so it makes the fireplace a focal point in a way that a firebox integrated into a wall of stone doesn't.

WHOA!!!!! Though probably not practical (also how the devil would you clean those windows???) but still. very neat.

A little austere, but I love the idea that you would feel like you were playing among the trees. :)

have we talked about floating stairs? I think we have? I have mixed feelings, but this is a pretty one.

Liz doesn't care for "wall of stone" with fireplace feeling more accessory, but DOES like the seat-level hearth

so this is more like "sweeping view of grassland house" but I like that all of the wood made a fairly open room feel warmer. Plus dog bed!!!
