Wood and concrete has a very nice look. From Alicia: so yes, this is what Jeff was proposing: it's very thin concrete pads that rest on the wood so that it doesn't feel like a cabin deck.

Composite might look very nice and be very practical, but wrought iron railing would be very expensive. It all looks good, though.
