In general I like the color scheme and that the island is a different color than the rest of the cabinets. I also like the wooden floors. note that the counter tops are different than those of the built-ins.

this backsplach brick color may be more in line with what we would need to use to match the other brick in our house. they features a glossy tile in the same color family to add a new texture component

a brick for the stove alcove would be a neat way of adding warm natural color to the space; additionally, any iron work pieces we could incorporate on the wall from either Farnham or Rue St Peter may make the space feel more like home and add a point of interest.

having a mantle like structure over the oven is a neat design element. Also note the alcove within alcove instead of the shelving, the soft rounded top is a nice feature; may be more helpful for olive oil and other taller bottles that are used regularly and would essentially be out of display. also like brick background for alcove to bring new texture to room and warm earthy tone
