Okay, brown couches, brown floor. One accent is cream, but look at the color of the window and what a big role that's playing! Imagine the window is a blank wall and the art is gone... suddenly I'm going, what's with that side table?

This room is ALL THE BROWNS. Part of what works is that all the shapes are pretty boxy. The gorgeous side table plus classic film onscreen change the feel of the whole room. Imagine Monsters Inc onscreen, a generic Costco side table, whatever table lamp is closest to you, and no beautiful accessories on the big ottoman. Point being: it works because all the shapes and accessories give the room a particular vibe.

Cover the walls for a second and check out the dark turquoise as an accent color. (Th bits of orange/red/purple in the art add just a little energy to the room - imagine if it was just the dark wall.)

This whole room is light/dark: cream and beige, med-dark and dark brown. There's lots of rhythm and repetition (multiple chairs, steps, columns).
