Natural Lighting: the more windows there are, the more natural lighting there is in a room.

Task Lighting: task lighting is lighting that focuses on whatever task you’re doing. A desk light is an example of task lighting.

Accent lighting: a light that focuses on a certain object like a painting or accessories.

Ambient Lighting: ambient lighting is the type of lighting that isn’t too bright but still has enough light for you to see your surroundings.

Grazing: used to light up a whole wall. The light positioning is closer to the wall.

Perimeter Lighting: lighting that goes around the perimeter of the room.

Up Lighting: The lights are put on the floor and positioned upwards to light up the walls of the house or room

Cove Lighting: similar to perimeter lighting. The lights are all around the room and are placed at the border between the ceiling and the wall.

Recessed Lighting: recessed lighting is basically lights that are circular. In this picture each square on the ceiling has one.

Drop Lighting: lighting fixtures that hang down from the ceiling.

Wall Washing: similar to wall grazing but the difference is that the light positions are farther from the wall.

Sconce Lighting: lighting fixtures that are on the wall. In this picture the sconce lighting are the three lights that are on the wall.

2x2 and 2x4 Fixture: we see 2x2 and 2x4 fixtures very often in classrooms. I have never come across a home with this type of fixture.

Incandescent Bulbs: incandescent bulbs are bulbs that are round. In this picture we can see that they use incandescent bulbs and drop lighting.

Fluorescent Bulbs: Fluorescent bulbs are more like long bulbs. (In this picture you barely see them but they’re at the very top.)
