Maybe this layout would work (don't love the divided height of the counter, as it limits having a nice larger space for working).. keeps the sink open to the LR/social area, provides room for seating along the peninsula.. Consider extending the seating area on the end, to provide view of the laneway. Maybe move the sink closer to the corner, have the dishwasher in the area where the sink is, for a less divided countertop space?

nice to hide the counter appliances (toaster, coffee maker); kind of a nuisance to access though when you're using it.. a smaller pantry in which these can be left out would be better
