Career: Showroom, the job entails that whatever is being showcase must be done in a way that already fits the flow/design of the room while elegantly showcasing the product. In this picture the designer probably worked with the homeowners to create a cabinet that fit with the colors of the room, and would show the pantry without looking too crowded. The many shelves were designed to not only show the product but provide utility.
Career: Lighting, A career in lighting means that you must act as a consultant, designer, bring forth new ideas, and customize the design to the house or enclosed space that you are working in. In this photo the lights are evenly distributed across the ceiling to keep the living/family room well light. The lighting designer can also work with windows and use them to their advantage, like in this picture. A lot of natural light is let in throughout the day so the designer didn't install huge lights because its not needed.
Career: Historic Preservation, designers will try to preserve the integrity of a building or enclosed space. They will take into account when a place was built and try to replicate a look that brings the viewer back to that time. In this picture the designer worked with the furniture, curtains, wall paint, and architechture of the inside space.
