What I like here is the dramatic effect with the stone, the black moldings, the lighting, the banquette. Obviously this is very modern, but I think that since this is the first thing that you see when you walk in, it needs to be dramatic in some way. I just don’t know how to do it. I also wanted to be cozy and welcoming over, and not just dramatic.
There is a banquette just like I love them with beautiful windows behind. What could be nice is if you also had drawers below the banquette. There is plenty of closet space. The doors are architecturally beautiful. I think that the finish of the floor is practical, similar to what we currently have.
I like the idea of art which is lit. I also think this is a great area to have a banquette, perhaps included in one of those nooks I like so much, and which could be placed in front of a window. Of course you add cushions and a throw, and storage area underneath . Closet space is obviously very important, including drawers, hooks, and gorgeous storage baskets. You also need to think about where you can leave umbrellas, shoes, boots, coats, mittens, scarves, you name it.
Practical, but maybe not as elegant as I would like it.
