Echinacea purpurea is a tough draught tolerant plant that will flower from late Spring to autumn. Needs 6 hours sun and good drainage, make sure crowns are not covered in too much mulch. They can be grown from seed and the right varieties will self seed. They look best planted in clumps and look good with other grasses. They grow upright and don't need much space, the only problems they have is with fungal disease if too moist and will die out with overcrowding.
