People who subject something as wonderful, loving and defenseless as a dog to such unimaginable horrors deserve to be punished with the same despicable treatment as they inflicted. Or more.
What a wonderful story. You each deserve the other and will have many wonderful years of happiness together. Good for you!
(I do have to reflect, and this is not intended in anyway as a comment about you, that language in common usage does evolve over years. It was one of many familiar topics the late, great George Carlin was able to use as feedstock for jokes. Words are approximate.
"When I grew up, we had bums. They were everywhere in big cities, a problem on streets where they hung out. They begged money from everyone.
We've solved that problem now, no more bums. But suddenly, some others have shown up. We have unhoused people. Those with financial insufficiency. They've taken over the same places where the bums used to be. Fix one problem, another comes along.

In the old days, rescuing could only be done by highly trained guys who used life preservers, or boats, or helicopters or ropes, depending on where the victim was. Now it's open to everyone, we all can be rescuers.
We used to get lost dogs and cats from the animal pound. Can't do that anymore, there are no more pounds. Instead, we can rescue animals from a shelter and adopt them. How more noble could that be? Why do those shelters treat animals in such a way that they need to be rescued like someone who fell off a cliff?")
Again Lynn, such a wonderful and happy story, thanks for sharing it. The language thing gives me a chuckle, we all use the same newer words now.
