Bountiful, UT home named "Brown's Park Rebuild." See this whole home on HOUZZ. I'm liking the kitchen, which reminds me of our Mt.Aire kitchen in the ceiling height, et al. Check out: the copper range hood, the wood coloring, the island color. On the whole house, some of the furniture pieces and arrangements are right up our preferred alley.
Is this pic inviting or what? I like the furniture, the area rug, well, ALL of it. I had to save it because it's sooo cozy.
Comfortable furniture, fab upholstery print. Check out what appears to be a "couch table" behind the sofa that has the chairs around it for assembling jigsaw puzzles.
I love this "hundred-year-old" yellow color. I think I love it because our cabin has ALWAYS had a lot of yellow. This color is warm and happy -- not too bright or a color that is "screaming." These companion colors used here all look terrific with this yellow: cheery!! Please, can't we use this color in our new cabin!
Custom wood hood for a more traditional feel above the 48-inch range.
Designer Brad Belka designed the red birch cabinets. The rounded corner with sink provides another work and cleanup area that’s easily accessible. What about a second small sink located on the northwest end of our peninsula??? I'm wondering if we would have the space to choose it -- just to rinse fingers as one may be preparing fruit or veggies, whatever. It would assist multiple cooks.
The new homeowners meticulously picked colors that were historically accurate and found suitable wallpaper as well.
NEUTRAL GREEN. A green like this has a timeless, historic feel that works especially well with rich woods and warm whites.
Buttermilk. Warmer than off-white but not as cloying (synonyms: sickly, syrupy, saccharine), as full-on yellow. Buttermilk is a friendly, uplifting hue. Looks good with wood tones, accented with black for updated look. Interior paint color idea.
They started with knotty alder lumber and stained the wood with an auburn tint. The finishing brown glaze helps pick up shades of rust from the slate backsplash and keeps the cabinets looking warm, not dark.
Shiplap can be used anywhere you would normally use beadboard wainscoting — in a hall, kitchen or dining room, for example.
Modified, softened shaker style cabinets with this knotty wood. Style looks good to me. Simple beige backsplash.
These green stools are adorable in this wood kitchen.
Terrific seating idea: Fab couch, four waaay comfy chairs, with colorful ottoman within -- all placed over an area rug.
Repurposed wood as a backsplash? It's an idea. We won't be requiring too much area.
Having to store pot lids can be a nightmare. There are many ways to solve this problem, but my favorite is to create a divider in a pullout drawer, as shown in this photo.
A pullout underneath the kitchen sink. A pullout drawer would be so much better than kneeling and blindly digging around down there with one hand.
Narrow pull-out for cutting boards. Could we design one of these???
I don't know if we'd have room for a pull-out like this, but it sure would be handy to have. Upper drawer is a terrific cutting board (for cutting watermelons/fruit, etc.) with the hole to swish the rinds right down into the pull-out lower garbage can. Now Mt.Aire NEEDS this, eh???
Paint your baseboards to match the wall. This little design trick has several payoffs. Use it to create softness, promote coziness, allow other details in the room to pop and more. Also the higher height looks more pioneer-ish.
I kinda like the natural wood cabinets on the bottom with the off-white uppers. It seems to visually open up the space. How about off-white uppers within our range alcove to open the space up?
Windows play a big role in having the perfect sunroom. But don’t forget about the window treatments. These bamboo blinds add natural color to the top of the room and emphasize the height of each window.
Red accented linens & curtains are cozy looking in this pic. I'm also liking the wood walls, too. Cozies up this whole space.
Pretty kitchen with clean, shaker-style cabinets but the crown molding is of the traditional style. Love the cream backsplash. Good barstools.
A 6-inch minimum overhang is sufficient for dining, although 9 to 12 inches will be more generous, especially for legroom. Adult shoulders are at least 24" wide. Need to plan on at least 30" width per person/bar stool for comfortable dining.
This teal accent color is a fun vibe combined with the used-wood wall. I'm loving the window views in this room. We could NEVER have a white bedspread! Teal color saved as a possible idea for accents..
What makes it cozy? Whitewashed pine, the low vaulted ceilings, a mix of pillows in different textures and shapes.
fun couch pillows and ottoman!
Potential coffee table style.
Sturdy hardware. Protect your cabinets with hardware. Over time, oil from hands can wear down the finish and dirty up or scratch the paint. Look for a solid metal or something sturdy with substantial weight. It will benefit you — and your cabinets — in the long run.
Disregard this room! Faucet with integrated spray nozzle. If you are a big cook, you have a lot of big cleanups to do. This easy-to-grab sprayer is a huge help.
Cottage sun-porch feel for the loft potentially.
Track lights up on the exposed beams does "wonders." (That couch IS leather!! Looks GOOD.) Check out this ceiling -- tongue-and-groove stained pine -- and the exposed beams. This fireplace shows our existing adobe sandstone sorta. "Antique" furniture to-boot.

"Sunny" basement suite??
Love this warm and inviting interior. Bookshelves, high windows, even with a more modern-looking couch table. The area carpet on the hard surface floor invites "coziness."
Glass water barrier and swinging entry door, all of glass. Good idea for the main bath.
