I much prefer this style of walkway to a formal paved brick walkway (for the "extra" walkways...not for the main sidewalk to the front door, of course)

we need to replace our back fence and i would love to incorporate a fountain potentially and make it a "green" wall with creeping fig or something on the fence. i also ideally want to plant some kind of hedge in front of or behind the wall (or both) to create more privacy in our backyard

i like layered/tiered landscaping. in New Orleans we had crepe myrtles and japanese maple trees flanking our front stoop and the sides of our house with tired beds in between with camellias and azaleas, agapanthus and dwarf mondo grass. i loved that there was enough color that i didn't have to regularly be out there planting annuals to give a pop of color!

our front yard slopes down so we have talked about adding a retaining wall, which is very common on our street. the brick and gutter colors in this home are also similar to the look we will have

the exterior paint color, shutter color, columns, and light over the door are similar to what our home will look like. we opted for pennsylania bluestone instead of brick for the front porch, and we plan to replace our walkway with bluestone too. our back porch and pool surround are also bluestone.
