I like the entry way effect from coming down the stairs. I could see our space like this with a door to the left going to the storage/work bench area. I would take out the shelves and the wall under the stairs and build a wall or deep closets opposite the door tot he stairs to create storage. This would create maybe a 6' entry area. Also, the wall to the right of the stairs could be about 30' wide to hide shelves behind it for games.

if the windows are not egress, I wonder if the illusion of windows could be created by using a window frame with light from behind and a window covering like shutters
