Having interior pull out shelves instead of stationary shelving if you do cabinetry doors will be key for accessing far interior areas.

I like the idea of a small fridge drawer or two in the island, especially since the fridge and freezer will be on the far side of the room. It would be good for keeping your most frequently used cooking ingredients close by. Maybe on the side facing the range?

I like the sliding doors on the lower cabinet, but that might not be your style. Regardless, the integrated outlets ARE KEY!!!

I really like the idea of making one end of the island open underneath for proper seating. Helps to make it not seem so massive, too.

Nice storage idea - but it would have to be stuff you don't intend to access that often. Kind of an awkward spot to have to get to whatever you're looking for.

I like this set up for the side of the island facing the sink, especially to have recycling or trash immediately opposite the sink. Also, a cool use of the varied height, and the contrast with the wood countertop for the seating area looks great - and I think would look great against the blue/slate color of the island!

More storage ideas - I also like how the corners of the island are framed in the same wood as the countertop. But maybe the effect would be too harsh with stone?

Obviously the look would be different, but I looooooove the idea of tracking the herringbone pattern from the backsplash and the dining area to the inset area of the island where the stools go.

The staggered height is kind of a cool idea - it could make the lower part of the island a slightly easier workspace set up too. Easier to reach/use more of the counter.

I like the idea that the storage opens as a pull out drawer, but the placement of the hardware may be deceiving and they are really just regular cabinet doors.

The glass door inset helps make the island look less monolithic.

I like the cut out on the corner, it makes the shape of the island seem more dynamic - also loving the color contrast between the island and surrounding cabinets, a good sign of what's to come! Definitely would go for a glass inset over the mirrors here.
