I think you could easily move all the plants that are in this bed over to the north end of the property where it's open. That would clear out the entire patio area for patio folks to come in and assess.

Here I was thinking of creating a rock wall off of the house corner, similar to the picture below, and allow the grass to move through it. Thing place some small rocks in amidst small plants on both sides of the grass. Could have a metal edging for definition. Also, a couple of swedish columnar aspens could go along the house, or another columnar type of plant or tree.

Here there is a dry creek bed moving from the patio and tying in with the one man rock wall that is going along the leylands to the south, and crossing in front of the stump. The dry creek bed and rock wall meet up and disappear over behind the rhode and by the plum tree. Again, between the grass and rock wall you do another garden similar to what is happening over by the gate entrance between grass and house. Some mirroring going on here. Then from the rock wall towards the fences on south and east side we could do a rocky, larger boulder, mountain scene with some mountain hemlocks (tsuga mertensiana) and a nice and compact deciduous tree like a katsura or something to that effect.
