These windows are Pella Architect series. They are wood windows with an aluminum clad exterior with black factory finish IF WE ARE WILLING TO ACCEPT WOOD WINDOWS WE CAN GET NICE SIGHT LINES WITHOUT THE COST OF STEEL. CAN WE GET THE SIZES RIGHT?

Door/Window Casing Option 2: All door and window openings have a drywalled return and then a 5/4" wood jamb is installed for a minimal trim look. DO WOOD WINDOWS FOR NICE SITE LINE USING 5/4" JAMB OR NOT; WINDOWS CAN BE PAINTED OR LEFT NATURAL; EXTERIOR SIDE OF WINDOWS EVEN COULD BE PAINT GRADE SINCE THE AMOUNT OF WINDOW TO PAINT (IF MASONRY SIDING) IS MINIMAL

AFTER: The two-story modern addition to the back of the house ties into the original home with the use of brick, and includes an exercise room at the garden level and a kitchen on the main level. The windows are a commercial storefront system by Kawneer. The architect left part of an old fire escape on the top level as an architectural element.

Inspired by local fishing shacks and wharf buildings dotting the coast of Maine, this retreat interweaves large glazed openings with restrained and simple taut-skinned New England shingled cottages. This skin is incised to open views to the sea beyond and relies on light steel framing and thin braces to preserve the simple forms eroded toward sweeping views.
