This is a very simple railing, but what I like about this photo is the straight edges on the steps.

This is a rather clean, but nice rail. These steps have white risers but have a straight edge for the stairs. I think the front of the steps being straight give it a more rustic feel as opposed to a formal feel.

This one has straight balustrades but an interesting end post. Also looking at this makes me wonder if perhaps you should repeat the siding from the entry wall on the side of the staircase.
