We recently hired this company to build and install doors in our loft. We had a meeting to go over measurements and finish. They told us it would take 2 to 3 months to complete. A few weeks ago we were shown pictures of the doors they built and they didn’t match our existing woodwork at all. I asked why they didnT match only to get a condescending reply about stains and finishes and that the door will change colour over time. We originally decided to go with this company because we wanted to get exactly the product we ordered. In the end they couldn’t match our standard walnut finish and told us that it wasn’t going to work out. We wasted 3 months waiting for our doors so I would highly recommend not dealing with this company unless you have a very detailed contract on what you want, and maybe get a lesson on stain and finish from the owner

Comment from 1925 Workbench:
This person commissioned us to build custom doors for their condo to match his walnut veneer kitchen, so we built the doors using walnut veneer. However, upon completion, he was not happy with the doors because they did not match exactly with his kitchen. We explained to him and his wife that walnut has many colour variations and further more, his walnut kitchen cabinet has aged over time which gave it a more orange hue compare to the more chocolaty hue of the newer walnut. He insisted that we have to match the colour.
We always strive for 100% customer satisfaction, but in this case, we understood that we cannot satisfy this person, therefore, we refunded his deposit in full, and this was after all the doors had been built. We think that was the best we could do knowing that we could not match his expectation.

Above and beyond! Rock and My Le created and installed several red-barn-door shutters for our farmhouse in April. They took the time to discuss what we wanted and were wonderful to work with to create one-of-a-kind shutters for us. They are so talented and creative, and they work very hard. We recommend them without reservation, both personally and professionally, and would not hesitate to hire them again. Well done!

I contacted Rock and My to create two custom pieces for my new home - a barn door for my very small powder room and then I wanted my kitchen island wrapped to match the door. I couldn't be happier with the finished products! They are beautifully built and add the type of character and interest I was looking for.
Communicating with Rock and My was good - response time to emails was prompt and they always seemed to have time to take my calls. Arranging for installation was simple and they were flexible. Installation was a dream! Smooth and done in one day - I hardly even knew that Rock and his brother were in the house they were so clean and aside from the sound of the saw didn't make a peep!
Out of all the contractors and trades people that I hired to help with my renovations they provided me with the BEST all round service! I would highly recommend and will use again for future projects!

Louis KERNOGHAN - Client - I contacted Rock and My Le in an attempt to find someone to trust to make a custom barn door for my residence. During my first visit with Rock I got to see the high quality of product that he produces. After speaking with him I had confidence to trust him in the design of the door. Further contact with My Le and Rock was impeccable either by e-mail or by phone to further increase my trust in them. The final product was produced as promised. After I did the installation I was trilled with the final product. The 1925 Workbench experience was excellent and trustworthy and I would highly recommend their products.

We designed a complete renovation (gut) and addition for an existing house in Toronto. The client requested a combination of modern, industrial and traditional aesthetics. To achieve this we designed a series of barn doors for all of the closets as well as the basement in a narrow corridor in order to maximize the use of the space. The barn doors provide one of the 'industrial' components of the design; and we had a very specific vision for their look and feel. In total there are fourteen (14) barn doors in the house.
We prepared a full set of millwork drawings for the doors including cut lists, finish and hardware with two (2) different types of mounting track. For over a month our contractor tried unsuccessfully to find a suitable craftsman to produce the doors and/or hardware, but no one was willing to tackle both components and their resultant quotations were ridiculous. Through an on-line search we came across 1925 Workbench. For our office, this was probably the best result of a Google search in all of 2014.
Rock, My Le and their team provided exceptional service. We were able to visit their workshop, review details, hardware, wood types, finishes and all other details. They kept us informed at every step of the project and called us back to review progress and discuss further options. By visiting their workshop we were able to witness the craft and care put into the doors while staying true to our drawings and design. With all of this diligence there is no wonder the final product is so beautiful. We are also impressed with the durability of the hardware, the soft bumper doors, silent operation, bottom guides and other details that make all of the difference as to the quality.
No photos can due justice to their work, however My Le and Rock have a blog where they feature this project and photos can be seen: http://1925workbench.com/blog/?p=1114
I recommend 1925 Workbench without hesitation.

I reached out to Rock at 1925 Workbench asking if he could build us a barn-door hardware system that we could use to replace the existing hollow-core doors that led into our home office.
The office felt dark and confining when the doors were closed. And when opened, they awkwardly swung inwards blocking access to light switches while also taking up some of the rooms interior floor space.
I sent Rock some measurements and went ahead to try to find new doors myself. I was looking for panel doors with privacy glass. The Big Box retailers all had the same products, with few choices. They felt poorly constructed, and would need to be customized at a significant expense to work with the hardware Rock was building. Vintage doors seemed like an option, but they were already expensive and would have needed some customization as well.
I went back to Rock, suggesting that in addition to the barn-door hardware, he should build the doors for me as well. We hashed it out over email, spoke on the phone a few times and he agreed to do it.
A few weeks later, after a flawless installation with My Le, we had our new doors and hardware for the office. Really though, it felt like we had a whole new house! We constantly get compliments from visitors, they work perfectly with our space and the quality of all of the work delivered is outstanding.
I can’t recommend Rock and My Le enough, and I will certainly contact them again for other projects i have in mind.
If/when it comes time to sell the house, the doors and the hardware are coming with us!

Rock and My Le from 1925 Workbench delivered our Walnut dining table the week before Christmas 2013. It is 10' long and sits on a large metal base, allowing it to float off the floor. It makes the dining room shine. We have already enjoyed many wonderful nights around the table. The quality of workmanship and the service received was terrific! Great job!

We researched a variety of companies that could make a barn door system to close off an open concept office space in our new condo.
When we found 1925WorkBench, we knew we had found the right company. We discussed our specific needs with Rock's wife, My-Le, and then Rock did an on-site visit to measure, and it was a week or so later that he had created two beautiful barn doors, the necessary hand-made hardware, and began the installation.
Rock and his lovely father created a frame, installed the hardware, and later put in the door.
They were both very polite, kept their space clean and safe, and their work exceeded our expectations. We can't thank Rock, his father, and Rock's wife, My-Le enough!
Fantastic experience.
Rock even left us a bunch of extra barnboard pieces, that we later used to create a shelf in our kitchen, and another in our bathroom. How thoughtful!

1925 Workbench did a great job custom fabricating barn door hardware for us. The quality of the work was excellent - the hardware is authentic, works flawlessly, is simple to install, and fairly priced.
Their service is equally good - delivered in the timeframe promised, friendly and helpful. When we lost a piece of the assembly during install, they cheerfully replaced it at no charge.
Highly recommended.

We've worked with 1925 workbench on several projects, with nothing but great success. They provide barn door hardware to all my clients - including myself for my own home renovation. They are prompt in ordering, processing and delivering the product.
