After purchasing several one-off furniture items from Gothic Cabinet over the years and being extremely happy with the quality/value of our items, my husband and I decided to take the plunge with Gothic for two major custom projects for our apartment: a home office and a lighted closet/shelving unit. And we are so glad we did - we got everything we wanted! Tony Stakis walked us through the process and designed both units to our exact specifications. He was in close contact with us as the units were being built and was always available to answer any questions and talk through any concerns. The installers were quick and efficient and left us with the office and closet of our dreams! The quality and craftsmanship are at high levels, and Tony’s follow-ups following installation have ensured that we are happy - and will be repeat! - customers.

I really wanted to redo my bedroom. I threw out ALL my older furniture and ordered furniture from Gothic Cabinet. It is really nice furniture with clean lines. I am really happy. Many thanks to Tony and the team at Gothic Cabinet Craft for a gorgeous custom built-in wardrobe and bed! We have a very narrow "maid's room" in our pre-war NYC apartment, and had been struggling to find furniture that would comfortably fit the room, while still preserving a sense of space. The custom built-in wardrobe is perfect -- it takes advantage of the high ceilings and provides plenty of storage. And the cot-sized bed with drawers underneath is gorgeous. We could not be happier with the results. It's now an inviting room that works as a bedroom for a child/teenager. Tony and team were fantastic - very responsive and helpful - I highly recommend them!

Highly recommend! We went to the store on the UWS to look at the furniture and stains in person. The order process was easy. the sales staff (Tony) was extremely knowledgable and helpful. We ordered a dresser and armoire. The furniture arrived quicker than expected which was a nice surprise. The furniture is both sturdy and gorgeous! As an FYI I also own 2 dressers I purchased from Gothic in 2006 and those are still in excellent shape. You really cant go wrong - quality wood furniture at a very reasonable price.

The bookcase was too short , when I complained - they said too bad and hung up. Terrible company that gipped me of $500.

I have done two projects with Tony and both were beautiful! One project was very tricky and they were able to install the cabinets below the existing top cabinets, with perfect matching. It involves multiple visits and fine tuning, and the final product was absolutely one complete piece of art! The installers were extremely careful - on both perfect installation and keeping my apartment pristine. I will certainly continue working with Tony for any future customized projects.

Gothic was able to quickly grasp the details of my project and provide a detailed rendering. I was especially pleased with the materials used, the quality of the workmanship on the finished project, that the delivery process included leveling for the floor and cutting an opening for an outlet on the back and, always, the reasonableness of the cost. I used them for a solid table that held up 24 years in like-new condition and now am just savoring this new cabinet/island/table custom project that perfectly matches my family’s needs.

I ordered an extra-long twin storage bed from Gothic Cabinet on the Upper West Side (2652 Broadway); it came yesterday, and I am very pleased with it. I’m also very pleased with the work of the delivery men, and with my conversations with Tony Stakis of Gothic, who could not have been more helpful. Patiently and knowledgeably, he looked at my photos of the room and floor, commented on the wood, advised on the stain and unnecessary (for me) upgrades. He responded promptly and with good cheer to my emails and phone calls—all in all, a fine bed and a good experience.

We recently had radiator covers made by 2nd Ave Gothic Cabinetry. This was easily the smoothest part of a complete renovation. Mr Stakis was very knowledgeable and involved from measurement to installation.The end result was beautiful. Months after the installation when a worker climbed on a cover and made a dent in the grill Mr Stakis personally fixed it without any charge. I was very happy with the service I received and would highly recommend 2nd Ave Gothic Cabinetry.

Gothic Cabinet Craft recently installed the kitchen cabinets we ordered to complete our previously incomplete renovated kitchen. We recently had custom furniture built by Gothic and are really impresssed. From beginning to end tony took care of our needs and got us exactly what we wanted for the budget we had. I went to Gothic Cabinet Craft on 85th St. hoping to get a custom built TV unit for my living room. Tony Stakis listened to my ideas and incorporating some of his own suggestions proceeded to make a drawing of the unit. It was just what I was looking for. When he came to my apartment for the final measurement I mentioned that I also wanted to get a new sofa table and end table and asked for his input. He knew exactly what style would look good in the room. The TV unit and two tables were delivered on time, set up, is very well made, was reasonably priced and looks beautiful. The room has a whole new look now and I just love it. I highly recommend Gothic Cabinet Craft on 85th St. and Tony Stakis in particular. Absolutely recommend dropping into Gothic UES and talking to Tony Stakis. Our project was built-in closets throughout a late 50's NYC apartment (bedroom, kitchen, living room). The result is spectacular in look and an amazing amount of additional storage space. We had detailed ideas for this project. Tony has good listening skills and paid attention to the specifics of our requests. He was clear when it could not be done and offered alternatives. On top of that, he was innovative in adapting available space to create more features and value for us. Gothic kept their word with high quality. Multiple people came in to confirm the measurements. You get to visit the factory to check they are getting the build right. The installers showed up on the agreed days/times and adhered to the Coop's rules. The installers were friendly and professional and corrected anything that needed it. The finisher will come in to finish the little adjustments (e.g. touch of paint or filler). This was a 50's building, so every wall, floor and ceiling was slightly crooked. They took the time to get everything to fit properly. Even taking some things back to the factory for adjustment. Feedback for when you are a customer: 1. Ensure they put drop cloths on everything. They will naturally create a lot of dust in making the cabinets an exact fit and that dust will try to get everywhere. 2. It is handy if someone is around for them to confirm small details of the install (eg. When they arrive or when they leave). Overall we are super-happy with the results. Thoroughly recommend working with TonyS for design and with Gothic for the quality of product and install.

Tony and his team did a fabulous job with my new living room cabinet. It was professional from start to finish, and they were even flexible when my crazy schedule caused a long delay before I could accept installation. The work is beautiful, and I got exactly what I wanted to get. I'm an architect, and I have a lot of experience with custom cabinetry. I highly recommend Gothic and would use them again in a heartbeat. Their price was consistent with other bids I got.

I purchased a custom made cabinet on September (2017) with the assistance of Tony Stakis, who was very helpful in tweaking it to perfection. The cabinet arrived promptly on the date and time discussed with Lakis Chiotis. The staff assembled it quickly and efficiently and were professional and courteous. My experience was so satisfactory that I ordered a platform bed ! Tony and the guys at Gothic Cabinet are great. I ordered my custom wall unit from them a few years ago and it was built and delivered on time and on budget. And it was and is beautiful....the centerpiece of my apartment. When I needed a new bookshelf recently, there is no place else I would go. My son and I shopped the neighborhood for a radiator/ac/storage enclosure. We found Gothic to be competitively priced while providing great design suggestions, quality production, timely delivery and expert installation service. Fifteen years ago I moved into a new apartment and realized that I had to customize the bedroom furniture. Tony at Gothic had wonderful suggestions and created a large piece that was two different depths (to work with odd wall dimensions). I have since moved twice and was able to reuse that piece, the matching dresser and two night stands in another apartment. All the pieces still look terrific. In fact I went back to Gothic recently to have Tony make a small matching bookcase. It was great to see that he was still there.

Tony was wonderful! He worked with me step by step designing a TV/entertainment unit for my needs. He even took the time to go over paint colors for another room in my apartment. His installation team also did a great job. They made sure the doors were even, the pulls were placed exactly how I wanted them, and they cleaned up after themselves leaving no mess whatsoever! When it was time to renovate my bedroom, I used Gothic Cabinet again. Tony designed a new closet based on my needs. He also did a built in radiator cover, drawers and a closet to the ceiling. Everything came out perfect. I couldn't be happier! Once again, his installation team did a flawless job. I highly recommend Gothic Cabinet.

Tony did a beautiful job designing my radiator cover. It really brightens up my apartment. It is very easy to keep clean especially with all the soot that comes in through the windows. He is totally accessible. I plan on using him for future jobs.

He is so invested in his clients projects and getting it right, that you will not be disappointed. By the way, do not take installation in a prewar building lightly. Most apartments in New york do not have flat walls or floors that are perfectly level. The attention to detail in installation is more than you think. Tony and his team are the only ones I would trust. I have referred many friends and cant wait until the next project!

I had a wonderful experience with Gothic Cabinet and highly recommend them. I had custom cabinets built for my apt (hiding my heating units) and love them so much, I'm going back to have them build a bookshelf ! My wife and I recently had an excellent experience as customers of Gothic Cabinet Craft. We have an antique dining table which is not large enough for large gatherings and is not susceptible of expansion. As an alternative, we decided to look for a pair of identical dropleaf gate-leg tables that, when in use, could be put together to form a large dining surface and, when not in use, could be folded and stored efficiently. After looking quite a while for a possible source, we were directed to Gothic and were delighted to meet Tony Stakis there. Tony promptly grasped what we wanted, produced a drawing and outlined the options in materials and prices. The projected time for delivery was eight weeks. The two tables were delivered much sooner than that and were just what we wanted. The folks at Gothic--Tony in particular--were extremely professional, responsive and personable. We feel that we got a high-quality product at a very reasonable cost.

We had a cabinet made to fit under our window in our NYC apartment to cover our radiator and air conditioner. The staff at Gothic were extremely helpful and professional. They worked with us on design, sent drawings of their ideas and gave us new ideas as well. They kept in constant contact with us throughout the building of the cabinet to the installation. We are so pleased with the final product and the excellent workmanship. They gave us a target date which they followed through on and the installers were excellent. We decided to use them again for a table that they are building for us. I highly recommend them. You will not be disappointed.

Had custom beds made for my two girls. I didn't want to go with a full bunk bed so I requested a variation of a low top bunk and a twin bed on castors. I also had limited space to work with so needed something versatile and offered flexibility. The rep came up with the idea of having the lower bed on wheels, which proved to be a great idea affording us the flexibility we needed. I provided a initial design which evolved into 2 twin beds with clean lines and solid build. The reps from Gothic were extremely helpful and nice. We're not finished with the design of the room, but here's a picture of the beds.

This new furniture replaced a previous Gothic Cabinet desk purchased fifteen years ago and we could not be happier. Tony was a tremendous help. His design crystallized our needs in our new desk. He also recommended prudent options which refined our original intent for the desk. Expect an enduring quality with custom made furniture from Gothic as well as great service.

I have a lot of interests (crafts, cooking, playing stringed instruments, outdoor sports, computers and electronics) each of which requires varied equipment to enjoy the hobbies. When I moved from an apartment that had a lot of storage space to an apartment with very little, I realized I needed to create my own stowing area. I decided on a somewhat unconventional wall unit with no shelves, since I already had three book cases in the bedroom and I no longer buy books (I use a Kindle and the library). In addition, I needed space for a TV, computer, and peripherals and a desk area. I lived in my new space for six months before finalizing my design. The new unit was to take up an entire wall in the living room and would be used to store files, overflow from the kitchen, seasonal items such as humidifiers, office supplies, photographic equipment, tools, TV, media, computer and audio equipment, and, of course, all my “hobby” accoutrements. In February I went into Gothic Cabinet Craft on 2nd Avenue and 85th Street in New York where I met Tony Stakis. I showed him my design and told him what I wanted; he reviewed it, made several excellent suggestions, and refined my ideas so the cabinets matched up properly and had “clean lines”. He also pointed out that my measurement for a file cabinet wouldn’t work, and he corrected it accordingly. He made a new drawing and came up with a price based on my wood selection (oak with a natural finish), which although steep for my budget (I live on a teacher’s salary) was more than reasonable given the fact that it was going to be custom built to my specifications out of real wood. I put down a deposit and Tony agreed to come to my apartment in the Bronx to finalize the measurements and make modifications, if necessary. Tony came promptly on a Sunday four weeks later (my schedule wouldn’t permit any earlier time) and spent about 20 minutes reviewing the design. He left assuring me that he would send me a proposal for the project and that, once approved by me, the shop would start to build my cabinets. He told me I could expect the unit to be finished and delivered sometime in June, which was perfect for me since school would be out and I would have time to organize my belongings methodically into the new cabinets. In the meantime, I ordered the hardware for the handles, which, although expensive, were of very good quality. I received the proposal a few days later. I had a few questions that were answered promptly. I approved the drawings and put down one more payment. In the end of May, I received a phone call informing me that the unit was finished and I needed to arrange a delivery date and make my last payment. We agreed on a Saturday in the middle of June, the first day of my summer break. Two craftsmen came at 9:00 on Saturday morning to deliver and install the cabinets. When I first saw the units I was a little scared – they were numerous (each one broken down into two parts), looked huge and unwieldy, and took up most of the hall, which is considerably larger than my living room. The two men worked quickly and efficiently, and by 1:00 they were finished. I noticed on Sunday that there were no metal rods on which to hang my files; when Tony sent me a follow up email on Monday to see if I was satisfied with the job, I mentioned the problem and he arranged to have someone come the next day to remedy the problem. The final unit is beautiful! I am more than happy with my wall unit, with the service I received, and with the quality of the materials and the workmanship. I will definitely go back to Tony at Gothic for my next project!

I hired Gothic Cabinets on 86th street and 2nd Avenue to build a custom made LV divider, closet, bed and several bookcases for my UES apartment. I worked with Tony Stakis on my renovation project. He listened closely to my ideas and we discussed the look that I wanted to achieve. Throughout the process, I was impressed with Tony' s enthusiasm, design suggestions and sense of humor, which made the process easy and enjoyable. My cabinets turned out stylish and well built. I purchased a custom made Murphy bed from Gothic Cabinet Craft, and six month later I'm as satisfied as I was the day the bed was installed. Working with Tony was a pleasure. From concept to completion he was hands on. His input in regard to design and space were spot on, and as a result the modification we made to my original design made the wall to wall floor to ceiling bed and storage unit blend in and not be overwhelming. The Oak wood with the low luster white wash finish popped the grain and gave the unit character. The workmanship and price were far more reasonable than I've seen at other stores. The installers who delivered the units were knowledgeable, vacuumed the carpet and removed the packing material after they were done. Since the job required more then half a day because of the floor being very uneven they showed up the next day to complete the job to my satisfaction. I'll work with Gothic and Tony again and will recommend their custom service for the home or office.

I worked with Tony Stakis to design and fabricate a foot of the bed TV lift cabinet. Tony was extremely professional. Understood exactly what I wanted. I was pleasantly surprised when I was leaning towards a more expensive wood and Tony steered me towards something beautiful but more cost conscious. The cabinet is unique and beautiful. Gothic furniture has been part of my life since I was a child. My parent's purchased my toy chest and captain's bed from Gothic. As a college student, I hired Gothic to make a custom desk for me which I still have 20 years later. Gothic also built custom cabinets for my bedroom approximately 4 years ago. I didn't write reviews for all those items (not to mention a few other pieces like my son's bookcase and my queens size bed/headboard), but when Tony (2nd Ave, UES store) asked me to write a review for the superb design, service, construction and installation of my custom kitchen cabinets, how could I refuse?!? Tony came to my home to measure, and in so doing recommended moving my refrigerator to another area in my galley kitchen and replacing my in wall/cabinet oven and counter-top stove with a single unit stove/oven. His suggestions have given me much more storage space in my new kitchen as well as counter space. Additionally, by moving the refrigerator, my small kitchen seems so much bigger. The cabinets themselves look great and are solidly constructed. The cabinet doors close quietly, as do the drawers. Tony also included a sponge drawer immediately under my sink to make use of space that was wasted in the 51-year-old cabinets that were replaced. Also included in my design was a bi-level utensil drawer which makes setting the table so much easier. Included in my design were Corian counter tops which have been maintenance-free in the month I've had them. Lastly, I should mention that when Tony came to measure the kitchen, I noted how a couple of the cabinet doors on my Gothic custom bedroom furniture had become misaligned over the 4 years I had them. Tony told me that Gothic guarantees my furniture for life and that when the installers come to do my kitchen they would adjust the bedroom furniture as well. As promised, everything worked out perfect. 5 stars to Gothic for constructing strong and attractive kitchen cabinets, to the installers who managed to overcome the crooked walls, ceiling and floors of my 1960's coop, and to Tony for designing and managing the whole project.

Hired Tony Stakis over 20 yrs ago to build radiator enclosures/display case/cabinets/book cases. Loved his work so much, we hired him again in 2015 to build a glass display case for a hat mold collection and a wall unit to surround an already existing walnut computer desk unit. He has a great design and color sense, is a perfectionist, reliable, personable and has a good sense of humor! We couldn't be happier and highly recommend him. I purchased a custom made murphy bed from gothic a few months ago and have to say it is one of the best investments I've made for my apartment. The quality of the craftsmanship, materials, and overall look of the final product are way above my expectations and on par for a lot of the other more expensive options. Would totally recommend Tony & Gothic Cabinet Craft and purchase from there again when I need another piece of furniture.

My wife and I did a gut renovation and we needed four built-in radiator covers. We wanted to get a little more out of our investment so we decided to put some storage on the sides of the radiator. We met with Tony at Gothic, who took really good care of us. He come to our place, took measurements, and gave us detailed drawings for each unit. We asked that all of them be fully accessible in case an air conditioner needed to be serviced, so he gave us a removable front that blends in seamlessly. We also wanted to use our existing baseboard moulding so he incorporated that into the design. We've had them for a year and are very pleased with how they've held up. 6 months laster we needed a fully custom kitchen. Our contractor's price was too high, Ikea was more than we thought and not customizable, and Home Depot was way too expensive for cheap stock items without an customizations. Gothic's price was much better than the others and we could make the design any way we wanted. Tony did these professional architectural drawings and specified every little detail we wanted. We added hidden cabinets in odd spaces to hold things like spices and cutting boards. We requested different cabinet depths in different parts, got soft-close hinges, had panelling done for our fridge and dishwasher, etc. We really tweaked every little detail over a couple drafts of the design. In the end we were very happy with the quality of the work. No cheap MDF was used. Everything was birch plywood, custom made, exactly to spec. We even went to the factory and got to see our kitchen fully mocked up before it was painted. We were so pleased with the quality and process and would highly recommend them.

I usually do not write reviews but I am so satisfied with the work Gothic has done I thought it only right to take the time. I needed a large bedroom dresser built to exact measurements. I visted Gothic's upper eastside location and spoke to the manager Tony. He was very knowledgeable about the style to match my bedroom, types of woods that should be used and the number of drawers for the dresser Gothic would be building for me. The following month (January 2016) it arrived. I expected a bedroom dresser that was well built. Gothic/Tony exceeded my expectations! The level of craftmanship of my dresser is outstanding. I inspected the dresser drawers, corners and seems of the dresser and they are perfect. In closing I would highly recommend to anyone Tony/Gothic to really sit down with you and plan a truly beautiful piece of furniture.

Last year I had the pleasure of working with Tony from Gothic cabinetry to build both a custom desk/wall unit in my son's room (complete with shelves, drawers, cabinet) and an custom L shaped dining banquet in my kitchen. I couldn't be happier with how both turned out. They are gorgeous and complete each room with a very custom look. Both receive numerous compliments. Tony was great to work with and was persistent until each was perfect. I highly recommend Gothic Cabinetry.

Custom ordered two storage platform beds to place side by side, at the Manhattan Second Ave 85th Street location. Tony reworked my design to ensure the pieces are sturdy. There was a problem with one of the pieces but Tony was quick to offer a discount or work with me on a fix. It took two tries to get it right, and ultimately the final product worked out just as well (or even better!) than the original design. Lakis at the office was very patient, accommodating my travel schedule for the delivery dates. The delivery men arrived early, helped me take down my old pieces (which I couldn't remove until the new ones arrived) and brought them to the dump downstairs. Extremely happy with the outcome. I recommend this particular branch - Tony, Lakis, Pablo and their crew were friendly and responsive to my requests.

Having visited the store on 85th St & 2nd Avenue we hired Tony Stakis at Gothic to design custom cabinets for both our living room and dining room. Hired Tony to maximize storage in 2 areas : a small bedroom and a window enclosure to hold books on shelves and clothes in drawers. The results were outstanding. Rather that s clumsy bookcase unit and captains bed he designed furniture that is light in feeling and does not overwhelm the space as well as being brautifully executed.

We are thrilled with the work done by nd Gothic Furniture. So much so we remodeled one room when our daughter was 3 and did so again as she got older and her needs were different. Our first set of built-ins made it possible for us to have desperately needed storage and closet space, a desk, television closet and a single bed with a trundle underneath for our then 3 year old. As she got older, and we no longer needed room for toys, we remodeled the same room and our bedroom. The design was perfect for a late teenager (lots of storage still) with a larger desk, more floor room and a bed with storage. We also remodeled our own bedroom at that time and were concerned that they would make the room look smaller. We assured the room would look larger and, in fact, it does. Plus we have storage space and a design that looks first class.
