Advanced Builders and Contractors

We cannot recommend ABC, and Nick specifically, highly enough. Nick reached out following an inquiry through Yelp to make some repairs to our detached garage, though we had several additional projects in mind. The house we had just bought previously belonged to a blacksmith, and he turned the backyard into a workshop, meaning there were steel beams reinforcing roofed structures and concrete everywhere. It basically looked like an industrial wasteland, and we dreamed of someday turning it into a yard that our kids could play in. We had corresponded with several other contractors before Nick, and we felt wary about someone taking advantage of us, so we planned to keep our cards close to our chest. The original thought was to see if the contractor who did our garage repairs would be a good fit for the rest of our work. During the consultation visit, Nick seemed knowledgeable about what would go into the garage repairs we were asking for. When we mentioned that we also wanted demolition and landscaping someday, Nick described the scope of work in a way that more closely aligned with our vision than other contractors' ideas. For example, we had several contractors tell us that we should demolish our garage and rebuild from scratch or move the structure to the other side of the yard; Nick respected our wish to build on the existing structure in order to respect our budget. He described demolition to the blacksmith workshop in a similar way, and we liked the proposal he sent to us, so we decided to move forward. What really has me writing this review and raving about this experience was the relationship we developed with Nick after work began. Nick told us in the beginning that he was going to treat us like his family, and he 100% honored that. We were still getting to know this new house we had just moved into, and as we noticed problems in the house that needed attention, Nick offered us options (with pricing) for how to proceed on fixes, if we wanted to fix at all. For example, our plumbing inspection report found that the main sewer line could maybe benefit from being reinforced. Nick had his plumbing guys take a more in-depth look at the pipe, gave us a price to possibly reinforce it, and gave his honest thoughts on the state of the pipe. He told us that if this were his house, given how the pipe currently looks, he probably wouldn't make that repair. There were several other instances over the course of the work in which Nick proved himself to be an honorable man. When everything was said and done, Nick and the ABC team repaired our garage, demolished the blacksmith workshop and replaced it with a travertine patio plus sod, installed irrigation for the landscaping, re-drilled for the pipes under our house to make our kitchen sink work better, built a deck for the backyard, and did it all within budget. We will definitely go through Nick again if we want more work in the future.

Nick was recommended by two of our neighbors and working with him on our garage remodel could not have been easier. You hear horror stories of people working with contractors who aren't responsive, don't deliver on time, and go over budget. Nick is the exact opposite. He kept us up to date on every step of the process, was realistic about completion times, and helped us make decisions on how to invest our budget. He's honest, straightforward, and has wonderful relationships with his sub-contractors. They were all polite, responsible, and experts in their crafts. You can tell they enjoy working for Nick and that there is a lot of mutual respect. Our project turned out better than we could have hoped. We will not hesitate to use Nick again for any other home renovation project and we have already referred him to multiple people.

I can't say enough good things about this company! Nick and co are incredibly reliable and hardworking and have really come through for us time and time again. Also I can't say enough good things about their quality of work, it's truly unmatched! The house is stunning inside and out and we’re so lucky to have had them as our contractor/builders. Hands down the best builders and contractor I know.

If you are looking for a contractor for any job big or small look no further . No but really I mean it :) . Since owning a house I’ve made a lot of mistakes and worked with numerous companies/ builders for different jobs and have never been 100 percent satisfied until now . Nick is a very genuine and honest person who was always upfront and honest with projects he has done for us . Everything was done in a timely manner , he stuck to any date he gave us and kept us updated all the time on time lines . He also followed up after completion a couple of times making sure we were happy with everything . I promise you nick and his workers will not disappoint .

It was January 2021 -- this was the middle of COVID, life was stressful, and my wife and I had just bought an old 1950s home in Woodland Hills that needed a lot of work (after "winning" a bidding war). The problem was that we didn't have a big budget, and we needed to finish the remodel ASAP because we were living in a tiny apartment, with a new baby that would be walking soon, and needed room to run around. We interviewed several contractors, and chose ABC and Nick. As I told Nick when I first met him, we needed his help "polishing this turd" and quickly. The remodel turned out gorgeous, and we've gotten tons of compliments from our friends, family and neighbors. Especially the tile work in the kitchen and bathrooms -- Nick's tile guy is truly an artist. The remodel included: new kitchen, new main bath, updated guest bath, new engineered hardwood floors, full paint and skim coating of walls and ceiling, new electrical, new roof, and a lot of other things. Here's what I appreciated most about Nick: 1. Responsive. This is hugely important, because there's nothing worse than not knowing what is going on. From our first meeting, Nick was always on time, and always responsive. He answers his phone, and responds to texts, messages and emails right away. If he is going to be unavailable, he gives you advance warning. Like any project, we had some tough discussions from time to time, but Nick was calm, a good listener and a problem solver, and helped us figure out the best way forward. Even after the renovation was finished, Nick still responds to follow-up questions. 2. On Time. From day one, we stressed the need to finish the project on time, especially since we had a baby, and were paying a double mortgage. Nick took that to heart, and expedited the remodel. Plus, this was in the middle of COVID, with lots of supply chain issues and other unexpected problems that could have derailed the project. Nick did whatever he could to make sure we didn't have delays, and to get us into the house as soon as possible. 3. No upselling - This was an old house with lots of potential issues. After we opened it up, we found some unexpected items that needed attention but weren't in our original budget. Nick helped us find the right balance between fixing the things that we truly needed, versus the things that we could wait on or alternative fixes. Most importantly, he didn't pressure us to choose the expensive option - he helped us find the most cost-effective option. We love our new home, and are happy to be raising our new family there. I did a kitchen renovation with Advanced Builders and Contractors with Nick as our project manager. The kitchen turned out incredible! This was my second kitchen renovation and I would recommend ABC again without hesitation. All of the different tradesmen that worked on the kitchen we’re of exceptional quality, they did fantastic work, and were incredibly professional. Best aspects were probably the exceptional project management and communication. We always understood how long everything took and how scope changes affected our work. Theres was no wasted time on our project. Nick was true professional, always had a good attitude, and always got the right answer and resolution. He had zero project fatigue and kept the momentum of the project all the way through completion. The price was also great and there was no upselling, or design pitches for things that would have made his job easier. We just gave him our specifications and he executed beyond our expectations.

We did a full kitchen remodel with Advanced Builders and cannot be more happy with the work. The remodel involved removing a post, new flooring, cabinets (some custom), countertops, backsplash, ceiling insulation, paint, electrical, plumbing, and putting in a bigger island for an eat-in kitchen. The quality of the work was excellent, and Nick was communicative and transparent from the get-go. I expressed to him that we had a poor past experience with slow and unreliable contractors, and Nick took our concerns seriously and checked in with us every work day (in person or by phone). He always knew where his crew was, and he stayed on top of their progress. He also did not over-promise or sugar-coat information - he made sure to provide what we needed to know (cost and timing) to make all the milestone decisions. I highly recommend Advanced Builders and would work with Nick again in future projects.

I recommend ABC wholeheartedly. Nick provided a very detailed proposal for a complicated project on my home in Tarzana. I was impressed that he visited my home three times to ensure that I understood very detail of what was required for my home renovation project.

Let me start by saying that it’s a challenge to find a good, responsible contractor. We got very lucky with Advanced Building Contractors. They did a fantastic job building our dream home. Nick, the owner, hired highly skilled subcontractors for each trade and we couldn’t be happier with their work. Our entire home was remodeled from the ground up. The work progressed in a timely manner and communication was excellent throughout. I get compliments from almost every single person that walks in front of our home. I would highly recommend ABC Contractors for any construction or remodeling work.

Nick and his team were thorough and processional every step of the build. We had no idea what to expect as this was our first remodel and although it was stressful at times, Nick and his team guided us through the process and made sure that we were 100% happy with the outcome.
