Five years ago my husband and I purchased a piece of land with a small cottage. Our plan was to have the cottage demolished and build a home with a one floor living plan to accommodate my mobility issues. We called Brewster Thornton Group Architects, and met with Patrick Connors. At that first meeting we decided to go with his group. Over the next year we had many meetings with Patrick as well as his associate Peter Ciminello, going over their suggestions and incorporating all of our requests. I am very particular and with their help I had input on every detail. During construction both Patrick and Peter visited the site regularly to ensure that the plans were being followed. After being in the house for three years now we are extremely happy with the results. Patrick and Peter were very easy to work with and helped make what seemed at first to be an overwhelming task into a successful and rewarding experience. Brewster Thornton Group Architects has our highest recommendation.

We were recommended to Brewster Thornton by our Realestate agent after purchasing a home during the pandemic. Our initial meetings with Patrick and his team were via “zoom”, you’d think that would be difficult when renovating an entire 200 year old home, but it wasn’t! Patrick and his team were amazing! Their attention to detail is incredible, they transformed our 1823 house into a home that functions in 2022, without losing any of the charm. We can not say enough about Brewster Thornton’s quality of work, we could not be happier with the results!

Fantastic experience working with Patrick Connors for the second time. This project was a renovation of our second floor, including bathrooms and bedrooms as well as the addition of central air conditioning. Pat is very detail oriented and has wonderful ideas to incorporate into every step of the project. As one of many examples, he transformed the end of a hallway into an office nook. Excellent at listening to and advocating for you during the inevitable rough spots in the project. Cannot say enough positive things about him, would trust him with any project you are considering.

Ahead of the project, we had specific ideas and photos for the interior of our addition/renovation but never gave much thought to what the exterior would look like. Since 2013, Mary Brewster did two renovation projects for us on a house she originally designed a decade before on spec as part of a small residential neighborhood development of nine unique homes, built by the developer, Jeremy Sherer of Suburban Renewal of North Kingstown RI. In our renovations, Mary introduced many wonderful, creative, and fitting touches. She reconfigured the downstairs layout, greatly improving the functionality of the house -- adding a beautiful dining room and adjacent dry bar, relocating, and enlarging various windows and doors, and introducing a custom pergola over the deck -- all in all, enhancing views and physical connections with the outdoors. At the same time she preserved the character and original square footage of the house. Most recently she's redesigned our kitchen with some seemingly small changes that have absolutely transformed the space, increasing light, improving functionality, and enhancing character. Mary is creative, professional, efficient, and experienced -- and such a pleasure to work with! We are so happy to have hired her and her firm.

We live in a small cape and had decided to gut the 2nd floor to gain additional space in both bedrooms and modernize the full bathroom. Having already lived through a major renovation of the 1st floor, we knew we needed an architect. Pat Connors of Brewster Thornton Group listened to our needs and helped us refine them. After coming to terms with detailed plans, Pat provided insight and direction for our GC and subs that greatly increased the quality of the renovation and the usability of our home. Pat's creativity, professionalism and easy-going style made him a pleasure to work with. We could not have asked for better architect to partner with!

We've used Brewster Thornton now for 2 projects; our master bedroom addition most recently, and a mudroom addition 7-8 years ago. We worked with Pat Connors, and found that he and his staff listened to what we wanted, and worked with us to fine tune our project according to our needs and budget. When issues came up (as they inevitably will), they were available and responsive, and came up with creative solutions to keep things moving. Both projects turned out beautifully, and we would most certainly use them again.

My husband and I hired Brewster Thornton Group, Patrick Connors, last year to create a design for a kitchen/living room renovation and second floor dormer window addition. Knowing the degree of difficulty for this project was high- choosing Brewster Thornton Group was the right decision. The experience and knowledge of Patrick and his team was evident from day one. Prior to any drafting of prints, meticulous measurements of existing home structures were taken. This was reviewed carefully and thoughtfully more than once, and portrayed entirely in the initial rendering. At this point it was clear- with Patrick's attention to detail and attentive listening to the desires of the homeowner, we were in good hands. Patrick prepared designs that replaced load bearing walls with steel beam installations hidden in the ceiling; rerouted major plumbing lines from second floor to basement via beautiful, decorative columns; laid out a floor plan for cabinets providing the highest level of functionality in our kitchen while graciously transitioning the design detail to the living room; and created a stunning second floor dormer addition including our home's new focal point, a gorgeous, center window ensconced by two smaller windows on either side. The end result has completely transformed both the look and function of our home inside and out. The design exceeded our expectations and we are beyond pleased. We would recommend Patrick and Brewster Thornton Group to anyone!

Listening, Hearing, Nurturing a vision--this is how we'd characterize our experience with Brewster Thornton Group. We purchased a small bayside property that had been in my family for over 50 years. Breathtaking 180-degree bay views...but a sadly run-down dwelling. Brewster Thornton listened deeply and patiently to our imaginings--and anxieties--about our ambition of transforming the property to fully realize its potential.
