They had a quote the same day of their walkthrough, and their willingness to respond in the evenings and weekends when we were most available meant for very efficient communication. Beyond that, they were very flexible with accommodating our ideas. We love our finished basement, and we'd use them again if we ever had to move!

We finished our basement with Buckeye Basements including approximately 1200 sq ft. We did a bedroom, bathroom, living area, wet bar, exercise room, and flex/craft room. Both Lean and Jon were great to work with along the way. Their passion is very evident in the care they take with projects. They took care of the permits needed seamlessly. They were very detail oriented. They were upfront with costs. They stayed on schedule. Their sub-contractors were also good. They communicated very well and were very responsive to our questions and concerns. They also were quick to remedy any (minor) errors we noted along the way. Very pleased we chose them (we had interviewed 4 contractors total).

We could not have asked for a better experience finishing our basement with Buckeye Basements. From our very first meeting - where they were the only company willing to provide feedback on our ideas - all the way through project completion, we were thrilled with the process. Jon and Leah personally manage the entire process and work with a great bunch of subcontractors. Since they keep their operation small, their prices are unbeatable. Plus, the ability to go pick out our finishings made the process fun. Even when we inadvertently selected finishings that didn't match, Leah had our back and intervened before any orders were finalized. Our basement is now the best part of our house. Thanks to Jon and Leah, we have a basement bar, another bedroom and full bathroom, social space, and storage.

We had a large basement finished that included unfinished space, a home gym, a large media room, mudroom/exterior egress door installation, a large bar room, a full bathroom, large bedroom with closet, and finished under stair storage. We loved working with Jon & Leah at Buckeye Basements. They have incredible communication and every subcontractor that they used for the project were professional and a pleasure to have working on our house. Buckeye Basements developed our basement in the spring/summer of 2021 which included a guest bedroom, bathroom, workout room, theater room, finished storage closet as well as unfinished storage space. We couldn't be happier with the experience! At every step communication was detailed, honest and accurate. Leah sent regular updates so we always knew what to expect. Our basement exceeded our expectations. The layout was mostly straightforward, but Jon went above and beyond to give us multiple options for one tricky area. In the end, the layout ended up being something we would never have thought of on our own and it was perfect for what we needed. Jon was also willing to do the extra work to preserve the highest possible ceilings, which involved rearranging plumbing and HVAC to minimize ceiling drops. He also had no issue with moving our rough-ins to accommodate our layout, which I've been told by friends that not all contractors are willing to do. Even though our project was happening during the height of covid mayhem, Jon and Leah managed to keep everything on schedule and there were no big expensive surprises. Everything was communicated timely, the estimated costs were accurate, and the very few, small bumps we had, which were not their fault, were resolved quickly. Everyone told me how stressful developing a basement is, and while it is a major disruption to daily life, Buckeye Basements was the the least stressful part! Thank you, Jon and Leah!

Our project was unique in a few ways and Buckeye was open and accommodating to help deliver our vision. The project on paper was not very difficult. It was taking an unfinished basement in a new build house and make one large room and a bathroom. The level of detail and customization however, was more challenging. Including a custom built 18 foot entertainment center and and an expansive bar with intricate wainscoting and coffered ceilings. The main reason we chose Buckeye was Jon’s (the owner) recommendations on his first visit of how he would implement our vision. Jon is not only a true craftsman with wood but also extremely creative and innovative in coming up with ideas that enhanced our final project. We believe that it truly was Jon's suggestions and talent that made the basement what it is. Anyone that has seen the basement so far has been completely overwhelmed. Since we had a specific theme of early 1900 Irish Pub, we liked that we could choose our own flooring, fixtures, tile, etc. Rather, then be limited to cookie cutter design center options that other contractors offered. It does take some coordination with Leah to get the materials they need in a timely manner. We did have a timeline, deadlines, and recommendations of places to get the items we needed for the project. At the end of each day, the crew always cleaned up after themselves. Any construction issues were dealt with quickly and efficiently. The timeline - stayed true to the original plan. Including some additional work added during the project. Buckeye Basement is on the higher end of a budget. However, it’s worth it. They are upfront with their budget estimates and detail out all the expenses. We are thrilled with our new Pub and highly recommend Buckeye Basement.

The estimate was thorough and there were no budget surprises along the way. Leah was a huge help with design ideas, and both were quick to respond when we had questions. The contractors they used were very professional, and I was comfortable with having them in the house. The finished project exceeded our expectations, and we would easily recommend them to others.

They helped guide design plans, flawlessly adjusted schedules when "old house" issues were discovered in the basement, and still were able to complete the project on time. My wife and I had a couple of companies out to give us estimates for finishing off our basement. After receiving a couple of quotes, I called Buckeye Basements to discuss having them come out and provide us a quote too. From the first call, there was just something different about Buckeye. Leah, during our initial phone call took the time to go through their process, discuss our wants and needs in our basement project, as well as give us a rough idea of what the cost would be. After the first two companies came out, gave way-out-of-the-park quotes, I didn't want to waste our time, or anyone else's if what we wanted couldn't be done in our budget. Despite all of that Leah was patient and believed we could get what we wanted within our budget by going with Buckeye. A week or so later, Jon came out to measure and provide us with a detailed quote. Before he left, he provided a written quote which was within $500 of what Leah roughly put together over the phone. Needless to say we were sold. The best part is, now that everything is finished, the quoted price was the price. We of course added various things as we went along (which were additional to the quoted price), but these were all our decisions, not due to a misquote or anything on Buckeye's part. As for the construction, everything was top notch. Jon did the entirety of the framing and the other crews that did the drywall, tile, HVAC, plumbing, etc. were friendly, prompt, and kept the work area clean. Further, during this process we had a few unforeseen issues pop up that required us to stop construction. Water in the basement (for the first time) required us to stop construction for a week while we got that cleaned up and fixed. Also, just a few weeks later, another issue popped up that required us to stop construction for another week. Each time, we communicated with Jon and Leah our issues and they did the best they could to rearrange work crews to keep us on schedule. Ultimately, we finished just a few weeks past schedule, but I must emphasize that NONE of that was Buckeye's fault. Just bad timing for our project and bad luck with a couple of unpreventable things on our side. Happily though, Jon and Leah were great through the whole process. Overall, I am happy that we chose Buckeye Basements to finish our basement. We have great new living area in our home and are enjoying it every day. Thanks for such a great experience!

This is a great family business focusing on under promising and over producing. Our basement renovation was done on time and under budget with no "surprises." The final product was was exactly as envisioned.

Buckeye Basements finished approximately 1,000 square feet of our unfinished basement, including a mother-in-law suite with custom bathroom, large entertaining space, custom bar, and craft room. We looked at many potential contractors, and ultimately settled on Buckeye Basements because of the vision they had for the basement at a very reasonable price. Top-notch workmanship, terrific service, on-time delivery. Jon and his team were just terrific. We especially appreciated his vision for designing basements -- he's done a lot of custom basements -- and his focus at the framing stage of trying to take advantage of every inch of the basement, by moving pipes, drains, etc.

After researching different basements remodeling companies we are glad we went with Buckeye Basements. From the initial appointment, James walked us through the steps and was very polite and accurate with the all the information he gave us. He did a rough sketch what it would look like and answered all of our questions that we had. Mike completed the framing part of the basement and he was an awesome guy. My 3 year old daughter really took to him and kept asking when she got up if Mike was coming over this morning. He spent time talking with my wife and children and was very friendly. This is a huge to have this kind of bond with people coming into your house every day. After this the next steps of the process went smoothly from HVAC, plumbing, drywall and painting. Leah and Jon were awesome with communication during the whole process. Leah would email us on a regular basis to let us know who was going to be coming over the next day and what the next steps were. Leah would also get with us to schedule the city inspection to make sure it was a good time for us as well. Jon would stop in and check on the progress which I found to be awesome from an owner. Most larger companies wouldn’t do this as you would never see the owner, not the case with Buckeye Basements. Overall, we are very pleased with the project done by Buckeye Basements and have told our friends, family, and coworkers about them. We truly love the job they did with our basement and their communication was GREAT. I would highly recommend this company to anyone that is doing a basement remodeling project. We hired Buckeye Basements to finish over 1,200 sq ft of basement area. The project included a large family area, 2 bedrooms, kitchen, and full bathroom. We asked for the area to extend the finished quality of the rest of the house. We've built two houses and done many remodel projects in the past. This was our largest endeavor. Buckeye Basements delivered a beautifully crafted finished product, to the penny of the original budget, and ahead of schedule! Buckeye Basements remodeled our basement from the ground up...literally. The concrete floor was removed and repoured complete with radiant heating. We have doubled our living space! The basement was totally reconfigured to contain: a large entertainment area with a kitchenette, 3 piece bathroom, office/bedroom, enclosed laundry area, exercise room, dog wash area, and dog room. The basement now looks just as nice as our remodeled first/main floor. The finishes are very high quality and beautiful just like the workmanship. We LOVE it and are so happy with our decision to hire Buckeye Basements.
