About Us

*Authorized Dura Supreme Cabinetry Dealer* We are a husband/wife team that specializes in kitchen and bath design and remodeling projects but we also work on other areas of the home including home offices, media rooms, work out areas, home organizing, staging and home exteriors as well. Christy is a certified kitchen and bath designer and also runs her own business, "Designs by Christine" where she enjoys working with our clients to assist them in the planning process by making product selections, creating design plans and coordinating decorative elements. Larry has been in construction for over thirty years, he is a "hands-on" contractor and is very experienced in the technical planning of the project as well as directing his team of experienced workers and subcontractors during the project. Since 1995, we have worked as a team to complete hundreds of projects together and we enjoy working with our clients to develop a design plan that we computer generate so that the project can be visualized before we begin any work. We have a great construction team that helps us take the project from the drawing board to completion making the space that our clients have only dreamed of a reality.

After reading about Christie Smith of Custom Design Construction and Interiors Inc in the prominent business women section of our mountain newspaper, we decided to contact them regarding remodeling our master and hallway bathrooms. They did an excellent job. Christie and Larry are personable and easy to work with. Christie has strong design skills, is knowledgeable about resources available, provided good suggestions, and was able to show how the finished project would look via her computer program. Both Christie and Larry and his crew are detail oriented, and take pride in their work. Christie also assisted us with selecting a color scheme to paint the interior of our home. She ordered the paint and provided the painters. We were so happy with them that we have begun to work with them for our kitchen remodel. We highly recommend this team.

I had worked with Christy and Larry previously on a simple bathroom remodel and was impressed with their knowledge, skill and professionalism. This time we decided to gut and reconstruct the master bath in a "rustic elegant" theme. Christy understood my description completely and they both delivered an exceptional master bath exactly the way we had envisioned. Christy and Larry really know their stuff. Larry and his crew remodeled our house after a devastating flood. Christy helped us with the design since we wanted something different than our outdated look. They really went the extra mile to help us match our current laminate flooring (not an easy task!) and it looks wonderful. We had lots of fun redesigning our bathroom with the help of Christy and her computer program. We are so pleased with the result and very grateful for Custom Design Construction. Custom Design Construction has our highest recommendation.

My partner and I worked with Christy on the design for a kitchen remodel. Even though we are in Merced (over an hour from where she is located in Oakhurst), she made multiple trips to our home and gave us a great deal of one-on-one attention. Our kitchen proved to be a challenging design project given the small size and awkward layout, but after drafting 9 (!!) options, she came up with a design that was perfect for our space. She was very transparent and responsive throughout the process, and are looking forward to the final result! Christy and Larry are a pleasure to work with, very hard-working, and creative. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a fresh new look for their home.

Granite Mountain Stone Design has had the pleasure of working with Custom Design Construction for the past ten years, supplying granite, quartz, and other natural stone surfaces for most of their projects. Christy and Larry make a fantastic team, as is evident in the quality of their work and their reputation in the area. Between the two of them, they possess all of the right qualities to satisfy a client's needs. Both are very detail oriented; Christy offers great design advice and planning; Larry is a true craftsman; both are very personable and client focused. We often have clients ask us for recommendations for a full service remodeling contractor, and we are happy to refer them to Custom Design Construction without hesitation.

We hired Custom Design Construction to remodel our kitchen. They are professional & easy to work with. The design phase took us awhile to complete. We had a small budget, by kitchen remodel standards, so it took awhile to achieve what we wanted within that budget. Christy was great at suggesting design ideas that would improve our look but not stretch our budget. The construction went very smoothly and on schedule. They did a very professional job. We are very pleased & would recommend them highly.

This was our first time for working with a contractor, and doing a somewhat major project. We chose Christine and Larry, because of high recommendations from several of our friends who had projects done by them. We spent time with Christine discussing our desires, and she provided excellent suggestions and explanations of details and solutions. Once our bathroom project started, our old bathroom & floor was completely demolished and renovated. The final completion of our new bathroom is amazing, and actually gives more room to the space, due to great design. We appreciated the response to phone questions, and periodic visits during renovation, to check progress. They resolved all problems, and were always available for questions and input from us. All was completed in a professional, clean, and timely manner. The final bill was just as projected in the estimate.

This is the 4th project that Christie and Custom Designs has done for me. Doesn't that say it all? This time, it is a kitchen remodel where we gutted the old original kitchen that was about 19 years old and put in a new one. Knotty alder cabinets, quartz countertops, ss appliances and sink, with tile flooring and backsplash. Christie's eye for design and color has always assured me that the project will turn out fantastic. They wrap the projects, helping keep down the dust and traffic in the house. The bids are accurate and the timing is always on target. Christie does an amazing job of finding out what I need and what I am wanting to achieve before coming up with her designs and she makes that happen.
