In January 2017, I commenced building my dream home. I should mention at the outset that this was the first time I had ever undertaken a project of this magnitude. The one thing however that I did have going for me, was the fact that I had spent over 30 years envisioning what I wanted my dream home to be, so when it came time to start the project, I had a very clear idea of what I wanted. That’s the good news. Unfortunately, as the project got started, it became very clear, that although I had invested all of my time in defining what I wanted my dream home to look like, I had not spent any time thinking about how I was going to get it built. When I decided to go forward with this project, friends who had experience in this area, all told me the same thing – “get ready for the worst two years of your life”! I am now moved into my home and I can honestly say that the finished product is even better than what I had hoped for, and more importantly, I thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. Looking back, I now realize that finding champion builder was probably the most important decision to be made in the entire process. Why?
