Gary Nance offers more than thirty years of residential and commercial experience. He brings a fresh mix of classic style, emphasizing functional design plans and architectural details. Working closely with clients and contractors he incorporates the integrity through the design as well as the construction process of each project. He has been featured on the cover of several Better Homes and Gardens publications and local magazines such as House Trends, Indianapolis Monthly and the Indianapolis Business Journal. In addition, his previous residence which he designed was on the cover of Better Homes and Gardens Planning Issue and their Home Building Idea cover. Gary was also published in Traditional Home Magazine featuring a cottage he designed on Lake Maxinkuckee in Culver, Indiana. He premiered his product line The Gary Nance Collection at High Point Market of Custom Light Fixtures, Hardware & Stair Spindles which is all made in the U.S.A. In 2021 he visited the headquarters of Oikos Architetture D'ingresso located 50 km from Venice, Italy to experience the design process, manufacturing and tests for the custom-made safety doors. After coordinating with Oikos he was one of three designers in the United States to have a project featured in their l’atelier catalog. Most recently he is working on a family estate in Franklin, Tennessee, a winery in the Finger Lakes of Upstate New York, cottages on Lake Charlevoix, Michigan and a family compound on the North Shore of Chicago.

I have known Gary for many years. He has done various projects from houses to outdoor living areas. I would not use anyone for design but Gary. He's innovative and listens to your ideas and helps you realize what you do want. He can be as trendy or as traditional as you like. I have seen many many of his designs. Im amazed at his creativity and how no designs are alike. I will only use Gary for any future work.

We hired Gary Nance Design to design our home. Gary was so fun to work with and had amazing ideas. The entire process from start to finish was so enjoyable. He truly has a unique vision and we know our home will be one of a kind. We just started construction on our home and should be completed writhin the next year. We were introduced to Gary through our contractor as we began to think through the complete demolition and remodel of our Northern Michigan vacation home. We had grown frustrated with our architect’s inability to address our interior design needs and wants. Gary got us immediately. His sketches are awesome as are his attention to detail and creative ideas. Gary worked with us room-by-room and elevation-by-elevation to create the look and functionality we wanted for our craftsman-style lake house. Gary was great at incorporating our ideas and suggestions on materials and finishes into his work. He also suggested some great tweaks to the exterior design. In addition, Gary worked really well with our kitchen and bathroom designer and teamed up with a fantastic interior decorating duo to help us select all of our decorative lighting fixtures and furniture. John and I worked with Gary on the expansion and transformation of our 1950's lake house to a 1930's lake cottage. Gary is wonderfully creative and likes to involve his clients in the design process . His unique ability to conceptualize beautiful spaces with an eye to detail made the process itself both exciting and rewarding. We loved the experience and the process. We have worked with other architects on both residential and commercial projects. Hands down - Gary is the best!

We have worked with Gary on an addition to our home and a lake home, currently under construction. Gary is a true genius when it comes to design detail, and no detail is too small when it comes to making the space work for the client. His eye for quality and knowledge of sources is tremendous. And if all this were not enough, he is great fun to work with!

The project was a complete renovation and re-building of our primary residence. It was the third project that Gary has done for us and you don't go back 3 times unless you're totally satisfied with someone's work. All of the houses were different styles and his ability to adapt to different architectures is amazing. Thoughtful, thorough, and innovative are qualities don't often go together, but Gary possesses all three and is a great choice for any project residential or commercial.

Gary Nance has worked on several projects for me over the last 25 years and is currently working on designs for a new house. He has intervened and resolved problems we've had with our HOA. Whatever style from traditional to extreme contemporary, Gary's designs are always unique and functional. He is incredibly talented, always has a positive attitude and has never had problems with any of the builders. He has bee a joy to work with!
