I am not sure where to begin. Our prior experience with a builder was not a very good one. We went through a very thorough general contractor search before we hired Heidi and AJ. They did not disappoint. We ran into a very tough and unforeseen circumstance when we opened up our walls. In essence we had to take the house down to the studs. Heidi and AJ helped us through the situation and with their expertise we ended up with a beautiful home. They went above and beyond throughout the entire process. Without any hesitation we would recommend them for any project.

AJ and Heidi were a pleasure to work with. They strictly adhered to our aggressive schedule and their subcontractors performed extremely well. The quality of the finishes exceeded our expectations. We will definitely use them again for our next remodel.

This will be my second remodel with gates custom homes. This company does what they say they can do, for the price they quote you and in the time they say it will take. I contracted with Gates Custom Homes (AJ Gates) for a Master Suite, plus Powder Room, addition for my newly purchased residence. The project was completed nearly 3-years ago and I am still very happy with the quality of construction, the “fit and finish” of the final result and my relationship with AJ, his contractors and associates. During construction, AJ was “hands-on,” continuously on-site and always available to discuss progress. My wife and I interviewed several contractors for our home remodel project and ultimately ended up selecting Gates Custom Homes and couldn't have been happier with the entire process from start to finish. Of course rarely will a construction project go completely as expected and will likely experience some issues and set backs and this was no exception but every time both AJ and Heidi did whatever they could to make things right. Whenever a unexpected change order was needed they understood our budget and consulted us as if it was their house the work was being done on in both cost increase and savings scenarios. We have used AJ Gates, owner of Gates Custom Homes for 3 remodels since March of 2009 He first added a 600sf Master BR addition and remodeled our exterior including our backyard. He then remodeled our main living area enlarging our family room, adding a gas fireplace, raising low ceilings and adding a new bathroom. He completed our kitchen remodel in november 2012. His professionalism, honesty and expert advice made each experience much less stressful for us. He came in on time and on budget and delivered a quality product.
