JJ's Landscaping LLC

This is a very hard review to write given all the time, money, and effort we have spent over the last year with JJ's. We have held out so many times hoping they would do what was right, but now looking at other reviews it seems apparent this is in fact their business model and they truly only care about getting your money. I should start by saying, we were customers of JJ's for over a year with their maintenance plan. We always had Rob, who was the only good thing about the company until they fired him this past Christmas. When we bought a new house that had mulch laid with no weed fabric Rob recommended, we do an overhaul so we could maintain the yard. We decided to zero-scape the front and add terracing and hardscape DG. Over the course of a year we have spent close to $30k with JJ's and have had problems nearly every month. After the work was completed, we had some rain about a month later and much of the DG displaced, after about a week weeds started popping up. We contacted Derek and John, the owners who took a couple weeks but eventually had the issues fixed. At this point we were concerned and discussed with them if their work would hold up, John assured us that it was just bad timing and the DG didn't have enough time to stabilize before the rain and that it would not happen again. He even assured us that is why we have a 10-year warranty. In mid-May there was some more rain, and this is where the big issues started. We had significant run-off from the DG, huge areas displaced with weed fabric exposed. We contacted John about this at the end of the month, at the same time we had hired them to do another small job in our backyard. After several weeks of the front was still not fixed and we began getting frustrated. We had reached out multiple times and got the runaround, or no response at all. I voiced my concern that it seemed they had stopped caring now that they were paid for the job, this is when Derek decided to attack me and accuse me of talking about him behind his back, a very strange comment seeing as I don't know him and had very little interaction with him, and the fact remained that it had nothing to do with the contract we signed and the work we had paid for. I should also note they are the ones who drew up the contract and all the terms included was at their own discretion. Relations soured from there and it took months of constant effort on our behalf to get them to respond, it wasn't until October that they finally finished the work (5+ months after being notified of the issue). It is my belief the only reason they completed the work is because we threatened to report them to the contractor’s board. John even went to far as to write an email saying they would no longer honor warranty work on the DG, even though the contract they wrote up stated there was a 10-year warranty on the DG. I emailed him asking him to confirm that he was not trying to absolve a contract through an email without our agreement, he never responded.
