I found Joseph Construction about a year ago when I passed by a house on my daily run. There was a large trailer parked in front of the house full of stuff taken out of the house. About every 3rd day it showed up empty, only to be filled up with more stuff the next few days. This went on for more than a week, and it seemed that there should be nothing left of the house. So one day I saw some workers filling up the trailer again, and I stopped and asked how could they have taken so much stuff out of that house and still left it standing. One of them said “We’re remodeling the inside – want to see?” Of course I said yes and was then given a tour of the inside by what turned out to be Joseph himself, accompanied by the home owner.
The remodel was extensive – virtually every room had been completely rebuilt. Each bedroom had its own completely new bathroom. A living room wall had been removed to provide a much more open space with direct views of the ocean. The kitchen was enlarged and redesigned with a new floor, countertops, sink, and appliances. Having done a complete kitchen remodel in our own home more than 20 years earlier I knew what details to check on, and it was clear to me the work in this house was top notch. So I asked Joseph for a business card and kept it.
About a year later it was time to do some updates on our house: repaint the outside, replace 32 year old carpet, replace a 15 year old deck, install tile on 2 bathroom floors, re-do master bath shower and fixtures. Being someone who cares about details I called Joseph and asked if he could do all that. He said except for the carpeting he could, and he came out to see what we wanted and said it would not be a problem. He gave us an estimate that seemed reasonable and work started 2 weeks later.
We found Joseph to be a fascinating person indeed. He and his workers work hard – they get things done, and Joseph makes sure they get done properly. We had a couple of occasions when Joseph had work redone because it didn’t meet his quality standards. Additionally, Joseph pointed out several other things that “should be fixed”, like the non-existent weather seals on our front door, or the cracked edging around our garage door opening. When he removed the carpet from our stairs he noticed the staircase was all solid oak and suggested we refinish it instead of re-carpeting it. We agreed and the refinished staircase is a major improvement. He replaced some bad facia boards around the roof – and removed an old empty bee hive from a corner of the roof that we didn’t know existed. For the master bath he found a local custom glass shop that made a shower door set in 4 days that would have taken 3 weeks otherwise.
During all this we got to know Joseph fairly well. He uses rather colorful language to describe some of his former residential and commercial jobs. If you are the type of person who appreciates work that is well done you’d be wise to give Joseph a call.
