I couldn't be happier with how our landscaping turned out, and I highly recommend Mayville Landscaping! Karen really listened and came up with different options based on what we wanted. I really appreciated their priority for creating a landscape that fit our needs--something that we would really enjoy, could realistically maintain (since we both work and are just starting the young kid phase of life), and make the most of our suburban yard space. Karen is an encyclopedia of SW Montana plant/tree/periennial/annual knowledge, but it's practical, not just academic. So she's taking into account how hardy plants are, how much work they are to maintain, how prone they are to get bugs, how the colors and textures will look across different seasons, etc. Plus, Karen is honest in a really fun, helpful way that keeps my romanticized aspirations in check. For example, I thought I wanted apple trees, but after hearing what's involved with fruit trees, I opted to not go that route.

We are extremely pleased with the landscaping work done by Mayville Landscaping on our property just outside of Bozeman, Montana. Steve and Karen Mayville make a great team; their considerable skills in landscaping design and installation really helped turn our property, which is located literally in the middle of a hayfield, into a warm, comfortable and beautiful place for family and friends. In the design phase, they listened to what we thought we wanted and (thankfully) gently moved us away from what they knew wouldn't work, while at the same time capturing the essence of our ideas and helping us put together a plan with native and other plants that looks terrific. They were on budget and on time with the installation, and promptly replaced any plants under warranty that didn't survive a particularly harsh winter. Since the initial installation, we have used them quite often for regular maintenance and some special projects, including additional landscaping, brush clearance and seasonal flower arrangements, and each time we have been very satisfied with their work. Their employees are friendly and knowledgeable, and the charges for their services are very reasonable. We hired Mayville Landscaping to design and complete the initial landscaping for our house once construction was complete (2006). The design work was excellent and the implementation of the plan was conducted in a professional manner. Both management and the on-site working crew were friendly and professional. All work was completed in a timely manner. We liked their work enough that we had them come back a second time about seven years later to complete additional work that we could not afford during the first effort. We like that there was plenty of room for give-and-take during the design process and that there was an emphasis on utilizing native vegetation where possible. We have received many positive comments about the appearance of our landscaping and we feel that it has contributed to the value and our personal enjoyment of our home.
