Modern Concepts LLC

Unfortunately, my husband and I had a very poor experience with Modern Concepts. We hired Mike for a kitchen reface and full bathroom remodel. We were very impressed by him the first time we met him, and really trusted that he would do good work, based on everything he promised early on. He quoted us $85k for both projects, which was at the top of our budget for the work, but he made us feel confident that it would be well worth the investment. We paid him 50% of the cost upon signing of the contract. Two months following, he and his team began work on the kitchen. When they began the work, he had a full team of about 5 or 6 people. About 2 weeks in, he asked my husband and I if we would pay him earlier than what we had in the contract "to make sure he could pay all of his guys". We were reluctant, but because getting the work done, and keeping everyone happy seemed like a good idea, we agreed. After a couple more weeks went by, we started asking about timeline, and he kept assuring us that things were on track. As time went on, and more requests for money, it became clear that this company was very green, and lacked experience with time and money management. By the end of the kitchen work, not only was the quality of the work lacking, but our trust that Mike would be able to finish the bathroom within budget and in a timely manner was out the window. He had told us that he had to fire one of his workers in order to be in a better place financially, and at the start of the bathroom renovation, he was down to himself, his brother, and his lead tile expert. He was able to get through rough framing and inspections, which meant progress payments from us, and then he rushed through the tiling work on the floor and shower, resulting in a very uneven floor and missing grout. He then insisted that our second to last payment was due (about $78k into the work, including all of the payment adjustments). He collected the check, and then didn't show up the next day for work. After we reached out to him, he said he was quitting, and wouldn't be back unless we paid him an extra $13k up front before completing any more work. Needless to say, we did not continue working with him, and were left with an unfinished bathroom, and little to no money to complete it. Anyway, I certainly can't recommend Modern Concepts, and think that others should be very weary before signing a contract with this company, as they have a lot to learn about running an honest business, doing good quality work in a timely manner, money management, and valuing their customers.

What a find! Mike at Modern Concepts is a true craftsman and artist and can do it all. He's done several projects for me and I highly recommend him. For one project, he built new back stairs for me from scratch. 2 days later some friends in the trades came over and couldn't believe the solidity and the original artistry. He's professional, personable, and reasonable. Now we are talking about modernizing my kitchen!

Modern concepts were great! They worked with me to redesign my bathroom and they did an amazing job. I couldn’t be happier with the work and the detail that was put into the job. I would highly recommend them for any bathroom renovation or home renovation in the future.

Extremely professional, knowledgable, and shows care for details. The cost is reasonable for quality work. The kitchen looks great now!

Michael, is a great carpenter, he is very dependable, explains each step of the process and is meticulous. Does a clean-up never leaving a mess. You'll never go wrong with Michael and you'll be very happy when the work is done.
