Ko’olau Builders recently completed the remodel of our 100 year old home in Manoa and we could not be happier with the outcome. As a Design Build company, Ko’olau Builders helped us from the very beginning in the design permitting phase of the project through construction and completion. Our project consisted of the remodel of our kitchen and two bathrooms, and the addition of a half bath, mudroom and office. Chris and Nick Tang have a great eye for design, they listened carefully to the needs of our family and gave us everything we wanted and more. They managed to give us all the comforts of a modern home while preserving the style and character of our home. Chris and her team did a great job laying out our kitchen and bathrooms and helping us pick fixtures, finishes and paint color that we love. Their staff on site are very polite and did an amazing job keeping our home tidy and clean through construction. They were very patient and accommodated our design changes even during construction. Special shout out to Davin who worked so hard to wrap up all the final details for us and to Abby for managing the project during construction. We highly recommend Ko’olau Builders and would hire them again in a heartbeat.

This being our first build we had no idea what to expect or how to navigate all the details of a new build. Koolau Builders literally held my hand and walked me through every step of the way. Their professionalism, timeliness and most important to me, their response to my endless questions made the project so exciting for us. Their work ethic was spot on, and I very much appreciated that the worksite stayed tidy after each day was complete. All the workers on site were polite and very accommodating even when I made several design changes along the way. No nails and sharp objects left out which eased my mind as walked through the progress weekly. Koolau Builders staff are second to none, very pleasant and engaging which helped me stay focus as we were trying to pin down "our" style. I would do this again in a heartbeat and absolutely recommend anyone looking for any home construction, get Koolau Builders on your team right from the start. Nic and Chris Tang are very knowledgeable and took the time to walk us through the build process from permitting to choosing paint colors and fixtures. The staff kept us on budget and their expertise helped us make the right choices every step of the way. They are a local family that understood what I wanted even though I could not articulate what that was. I knew from the get go I was in good hands with Koolau Builders. Mahalo Nic and Chris, the KB staff and all the workers that helped make this our forever home. We would not change anything for the world and absolutely love our home.

Koolau Builders remodeled our kitchen, and we were very pleased with the entire operation and end result. Nick was very easy to work with and had great follow through. He and his team have a great design eye that really played well off of my own wants and wishes. I love that they were able to retrofit a very special vintage drainboard sink to look fantastic with the new elements. The custom wood grain shelving is beautiful. Everyone in his team had great customer service and they were very trustworthy. I highly recommend Koolau builders!

From the first walk through with Nick, we knew KB would provide the remodel vision we were looking for, be respectful of our budget, and make what can be a stressful process one with support and enjoyment. KB remodeled our original 1960’s home with new electrical, plumbing, and all the features to update our home to what it is today. So happy with the outcome! Thank you Ko’olau Builders!

Koolau Builders is the way to go! Nick and Chris Tang are true professionals, and their team does exceptional work! We did a patio extension, and at the end of each day, whichever subcontractor came to work, they cleaned up after themselves and made sure there was no mess. They were timely and always accommodating. We are so pleased with their work, that we’re already looking to the next project we can work with them on! I’d highly recommend them on any project, big or small.

Ko'olau Builders did a fantastic job! We have a classic 1920's era home in Manoa, and our kitchen and dining area renovation required a crew with much more than a standard cookie cutter approach. This project required vision and a collaborative approach to allow for customization, combining today's sensibilities with the nostalgic aesthetic that our classic older home deserves. Thankfully Ko'olau Builders was up to the task!

We hired Koolau Builders in December 2015 to remodel our home in Kahaluu. I worked with Koolau Builders to help us remodel our home. I'm in the construction industry and even I have trouble navigating construction projects. Koolau does it extremely well. Their best quality is pulling many different design elements together to create a beautiful, warm home that feels like your home. I've seen the team do it on every single project. Anybody can buy lumber, $300 light fixtures or fancy granite and install it. But working with them, they are able to distill the intangible qualities that make individual pieces into a cohesive theme that feels comfortable, elegant, and personal.
