Red Pepper Design & Cabinetry

Our experience with Red Pepper Design was really great and we would happily recommend Margie and Co.’s services to others. Working with a designer was important to us because we wanted someone with a good sense of space since we were working with a small bathroom in a small home. I feel that our interactions were collaborative and that Margie was not afraid to tell us when something “wouldn’t work”, but I also didn’t feel that she wasn’t open to our tastes and ideas. Working with a designer also helped keep our project scope manageable and gave our contractors a strong frame of reference when giving us an estimate. Our bathroom looks fantastic, and I feel that our decision to use a designer has added the most value and utility we could possibly have gotten out of this project. Margie was pleasant to work with, timely and professional, and also flexible with some of the moving targets I created by not being a better planner. I’m also very pleased with the cabinetry we ordered through Margie. The boxes for the cabinets themselves are very high quality (not particle board) and the finish we selected is of a very high quality as well.

We were familiar with Red Pepper from our time living in Boulder. After we moved to Washington DC we hired Red Pepper for some design help and to build custom cabinets for our dining room. The cabinets were shipped to us and arrived in perfect condition. We love them! I'll definitely return to Red Pepper for our design needs.

We did not enjoy the experience working with Margie. We called her in mid-project saying we needed help making a lot of decisions. She said she was bored (during COVID-19) and was ready to jump in and "be busy." She did not move fast. She had some okay design ideas, unfortunately her cabinets took almost 8 weeks to get here after we ordered them (she quoted us 4-6 weeks). She also forgot to mention a $140 delivery charge until a month after they had been ordered. One of the cabinets came broken and she wouldn't order a replacement until our GC could unpack and examine every single box from both bathrooms to see if there was more damage. And then a few weeks after our cabinets arrived (and we had long since stopped using her), she tried to invoice us for more delivery fees. It was a very unpleasant experience in a stressful time. We only knew our replacement cabinet came in b/c my husband texted her to see. She did not reply in timely manner to emails - and gave off an energy that she was doing us a favor when we were paying her $150/hour. I would recommend not using Margie; remodels are stressful enough.

We are very happy with our kitchen and living space renovation that Margie and Pyper planned. We had a funky 1970’s layout with quite a lot of particular asks, however, they realized our vision, were patient with us, and executed beautifully!

I thank my lucky stars that I found Margie to design my new kitchen. I met with two other designers before I met Margie. After my first meeting with Margie, I knew she was the person I wanted to do my project. I could just sense that she had a certain artistic quality that gave me confidence she would turn out a great result and she certainly did not disappoint. Margie quickly put together a plan that included everything needed to totally renovate the kitchen - cabinets, countertops, lighting, new tile floor between sink and island and etc. She just took care of everything that was needed. I was so confident in her abilities that I agreed to do everything she suggested. There were two items that, when she presented them, I went "hmm", "really?" And I'm so glad I went along with her on them. They both turned out absolutely stunning as did the entire kitchen. Margie was very pleasant to work with and she listened to my ideas. I wish I had met her 10 years earlier... lol.

We used Red Pepper Design & Cabinetry to remodel the master bathroom of our historic house in Boulder. Margie and Pyper are incredibly collaborative, innovative, and professional. Our historic house presented unique challenges, such as an immovable stone wall that was discovered during the demolition. They jumped into action and quickly prepared an alternative design to work around the challenges uncovered during the demolition. We are loving our completely redesigned and renovated, wonderfully bright and stunning kitchen, and fresh, elegant master bath designed by Red Pepper. When we decided to remodel our kitchen and powder room, we began by going to Open Houses and Kitchen Tours to get some ideas. Red Pepper Design stood out for its well thought out design and unique touches, and a meeting with Margie confirmed our feeling that she would be a great match for us. I had a very positive experience with Margie and Pyper from Red Pepper Design in Boulder. My kitchen renovation was quite extensive and required engineering consultations in addition to construction. Margie provided numerous recommendations for professionals and made the process seamless. I did use Red Pepper's cabinetry and have been very pleased with the choices offered and the reasonable cost. Margie and Pyper assisted with selection of everything and were very patient with questions and changes. They had very innovative solutions to design issues and made me aware of choices I didn't know existed!
