Whole House Project 466

This is the third whole house project I was asked to do for this client. We were able to approach the challenges of the remodel and addition with a knowledge of each others taste and work style. Our goal was to maintain the integrity of the early 20th century home while adding a modern feel that is in keeping with the way we live, work and entertain today. The chandelier is by Ochre and is a light I found for the first house we did together. It moved quite nicely.

I selected this chandelier for my client in a previous mountain home. It traveled well to become the welcoming piece in the in-town home.

Just beyond the side entry is a transitional space between the old house and the new addition. I turned it into a library/bar (on the opposite side). The colorful cement tile is from Popham Tile

Marble arabesque shaped tile by Waterworks covers the two outside walls. The texture and quality they convey is delicious. While the yellow cabinets are colorful, they also somehow read as neutral. The chairs are from McGee and Co. Cabinetry by Plato Woodwork.

I chose soft, all linen drapes from RH Home for the family room. The slight slub in the fabric is accentuated by a gray thread which adds visual texture and echoes the backsplash on the other end of the room. The living and dining rooms had been separated by a wall. I suggested removing the wall. The client said she wanted a fireplace so we found this gas unit by Rais that allows the fire to be seen from both rooms.

The wainscot on the staircase previously had beadboard in the center giving it an Early American vibe. I had 1/4" plywood applied over top and painted. The result is a more classic, sophisticated look. Success.

The second floor master has its own balcony. I wanted to wood ceiling to go all of the way through to the outside. It is whitewashed to match the floor color. I choose wicker lights, two interior and one exterior to keep the organic feel going. there are beautiful mountain views from this room.

Rift oak cabinets are custom designed to accommodate a drain in the center of the drawer units. The chandelier is a brass Italian mid-century light from Homebody in Denver.Plumbing fixtures from Kohler. Brass cabinet hardware from Schoolhouse. Mirror is from a local custom framer.

The sloped ceiling bathroom was once the master bath. Post remodel it is the guest bath. Lucky guests.

This kitchen is just the beginning of a whole house renovation and addition. Red Pepper was hired to specify all of the architectural interior finishes from door hardware and trim to flooring, paint colors, plumbing fixtures, etc. We also specified the exterior color finishes.

Wood burning fireplace by Morso that is EPA approved makes the experience of home as cozy as can be. Some of us love loading wood and lighting our fires as opposed to flipping a switch on gas. Since this unit filters the smoke twice, it is way more environmentally sound than gas.

Pentagonal cement tiles are by Popham Tile, available through Ann Sacks. We glammed up a dowdy old bathroom by adding a window seat (perfect for the cat) and a custom framed mirror. Cabinetry by Plato Woodwork

Prior to remodel and addition this new Butler's Pantry was the entire kitchen. The rift oak cabinets are clear coated. Backsplash is matte glass tile from Waterworks. Cement tile floor by Popham Tile.

This second floor guest bath with a sloped ceiling was a remodel of an existing bath. Waterworks washstand speaks to the early 1900's origins of the home. I love putting a personal piece of furniture in a bathroom. It warms the space and gives it more personality
