We were referred to Pam McPeak of Southern Places by a family friend who utilized her services on a recent project. We met Pam in person initially to share our ideas and photos of our existing space. As usual, first impressions are essential for building trust and credibility. Pam was not only personable and professional but also willing to listen to our ideas, for which we are truly grateful. Our project, which we initially thought would be a simple refresh, was quite a surprise. It included fresh paint, furniture upgrades, new artwork, and, most unexpectedly, the installation of a large wall mural. Never in a hundred years would we have selected a wall panel mural on our own. It was outside of our design comfort zone. Sensing this, Pam walked us through hanging a wallpaper-based mural, asking us to trust her, which we did. She surrounded it with a matching wooden frame, which looked incredible. Another thing we liked about Pam's style was that she was very willing to work with pieces that had special significance to us and that we did not want to give up. She showed a unique talent for blending the old with the new. Finally, there were a couple of times when we only partially agreed with a piece or display that Pam had suggested. She worked with us to get things to make the tweaks necessary to get it just right. Needless to say, we are very pleased with how it turned out. Once a mere room, our space has been transformed into a place of inspiration and comfort, a testament to Pam's expertise and experience.

Outstanding! I felt an instant connection from the first meeting with Pam. And when I explained I wanted the house to feel like “home,” she really heard me. It took a full year to rehab the entire house after we purchased it, but we were finally able to move in about 6mo ago. Pam McPeak makes decorating dreams come true. I became familiar with Pam’s work when she decorated my sister’s new home. Although my sister and I have different tastes and styles, I loved everything Pam did. When we decided to redecorate our 36-year-old home, we immediately enlisted Pam for the task. She listened to our likes and dislikes and created a plan that has transformed the way we live in and enjoy our home. All of our walls were painted Greek Villa (an off-white), but my favorite colors are earth tones. I had no idea how to choose colors that would create a cohesive feeling while making each room unique. Now my rooms feel so cozy and inviting with the paint colors Pam selected and which I would have been afraid to try—such as Phoenix Fossil on my dining room walls and ceiling and Backdrop on my fireplace mantel. She combined our wildlife art and some favorite furniture with new furniture, distinctive lighting, stunning wallpaper, and unique art (Licorice the Sheep by Penny and Lucy Lou Art) and added texture and color with pillows, rugs, and window treatments. As a retired English teacher, I had always dreamed of having a library; Pam made that dream come true within the footprint of our home. We are now working on the laundry room and eagerly await that transformation: another distinctive light fixture, wallpaper on the ceiling, and custom-made storage. Stay tuned.

My husband and I bought a fixer-upper that needed attention. The amount of work needed demanded a designers touch. Having looked at several designers in the area, I kept coming back to Southern Places. After meeting with Pam, we gave her quite a list of things we needed ; two offices that allowed each of us to work from home. Pam listened to our ideas and incorporated some of her own and came up with designs that each of us loved. The “wow” factor was/is definitely there. Her daughter Penny also incorporated her artwork into the design ;magical sprinkling of fairy dust. I absolutely love it. Pam took the worry and trepidation out of the equation. She has her crew that executed all of the design to perfection. It was a pleasure working with such a consummate professional. I have and will be calling on Southern Places for all of my upcoming design needs.

I just kept returning to Pam’s website and the photos there while searching for a designer to help me with my new home — as I became overwhelmed with the many decision I needed to make. She was true to her words about good design allowing for “multi-functional ways to live, work, and play.” Her many years of successful experience are evident: she’s confident, flexible, creative, tuned in to the client, and always thinking about a variety of options, not just offering one solution. So what started out as a request for assistance with choosing paint colors and fixtures that would compliment my existing artwork, rugs, and some furniture pieces turned into a complete transformation of my home. I could not be more pleased with every room. I also asked Pam for help on some additional furniture pieces for my living room, dining area and office. For every decision, she always brought options that were on the mark and patiently talked through the decisions I made. She has a keen eye for that “extra” touch to allow each room to have its own personality that reflects the living that goes on there. I will continue to work with her in the future and know that each time I do, she will make sure I am 100% pleased before the job is done. She is stellar!

I truly enjoyed working with Pam on a major living room/den/kitchen remodel/redecoration project. She is certainly talented, but beyond that, she is flexible, open to ideas and creative in accomplishing design goals on schedule and within budget. I felt that she truly listened to what I wanted, and she certainly delivered a lovely product. I now have a home where my family and I can relax, enjoy and share with others. Thank you Pam!

Southern Places/Pam McPeak did an amazing job on my kitchen and half bath remodel. She did a wonderful job combining my style with a timeless design while being budget conscious. I was thrilled with how she incorporated items I already owned with new pieces as well. I have worked with Pam on various residential projects. The pleasure she has pleasing her clients with exactly what they want in their home and in their budget comes across in her designs and creativity. She is easily one the best designers I have worked with as she makes my job easier as a contractor. She communicates what her clients want and how to make it work with us on the construction-side. What I enjoy most about working with Pam and her team at Southern Places is they care most about getting the job done right the first time. This is very important to me because it saves me time and allows me to continue and stay on schedule with my other projects.

From the very beginning Southern Places, Inc. has been the absolute most amazing company to work with. From the initial consultation, working with contractors, negotiations and finally installation, everything we just so easy. The design was amazing and really took our home to a new level. I hired Pam McPeak of Southern Places to decorate my gameday condo after researching Columbia decorators on the internet. She asked me to complete a questionnaire that she had developed to help her understand my priorities. I was surprised by how well she was able to understand my vision for the project with minimal input from me, including the fact that we never actually met. She provided photos of two different furniture options which were just slightly above what I had told her my budget was. I was so pleased by her work I asked her to accessorize the condo as well. It was clear to me that she enjoys her work and takes great pride in making your vision a reality. She made this a turn key operation, handling all of the installations, deliveries and painting allowing me to remain in Charleston and work. The end result has blown all of my visitors away.

Pam was able to take the vision I had for my dining room and make it a reality. She is incredibly easy to work with and made my first experience with a design professional a fun one. She listened carefully to my thoughts in order to bring me a very personalized design. I could not be any happier with the end product!

Pam McPeak, ASID, of Southern Places, Inc. renovated and refreshed my master bathroom to combine the existing vintage vibe with a more modern, upgraded look. I am very happy with how she chose larger format glass and porcelain tiles to design a new shower that coordinates well with existing hexagonal floor tile, clawfoot tub, and pedestal sinks. She designed a custom cabinet tower that fits perfectly between the two sinks. The pullout shelf in the tower provides the necessary countertop space like built-in cabinetry while retaining the heritage look of pedestal sinks.

Pam did a fabulous job with our Gamecock Getaway ! She added all of the perfect touches to make the condo complete! Her sense of style and talent made me feel at ease, we immediately clicked and she and her talented daughter were a pleasure to work with. My daughter is a graduate student at USC and is enjoying her experience even more so with our game day getaway. We are hoping to work with her again soon.

Having never worked with a designer before, I was nervous that Pam would not understand what I envisioned. However, she quickly diminished that fear. She not only captured everything I envisioned, she made our house a home! A place we could feel comfortable in with two small children and a dog! From the very first meeting I felt at ease and confident that Pam would do an amazing job...and she and her wonderful crew surpasses my wildest dreams. My family and I feel blessed to have worked with her!

Downsizing and building to age in place. She has been present for us through out this process and saved us immeasurable stress and money. She worked well with our builder and his subs REALLY appreciated the organized manner she used to presented the information needed to help us realize our dream. Yes, we highly recommend her. She is gifted in her ability to understand her clients and help them realize their dreams.

When I moved into my townhouse last year I was a bit overwhelmed with the idea of updating the place. It had sat empty for three years and the interior hadn't been updated since the 1980s. I started looking for an interior designer and, by good fortune, discovered Pam. She took the time to get to know me, my priorities and my likes and dislikes. I am not a person who is afraid of color (I love a red wall!) and I think my eclectic tastes may have presented Pam with some unique challenges. She rose wonderfully to the occasion, transforming my master bedroom and master bath into an oasis of stylish calm. Her suggestions for the kitchen caught me by surprise, but despite some initial nervousness everything turned out beautifully. I am extemely satisfied with her work and would heartily recommend her to anyone.

Pam provided me with design and fabric assistance 21 years ago in my new home so when it came time to update with retirement in mind, I immediately consulted her. Her original ideas and choices had lived well and her new interventions and adaptations fit in perfectly with my life style. We virtually refreshed the whole downstairs over a five month period. Mindful of my "late in life" budget, she provided choices, advice, costs, and time frames to completion. She was always present during installations and deliveries and worked well with painters, floor finishers, carpenters, electricians etc. She introduced some wonderful color combinations that would not have occurred to me but never pressed a decision that I was wavering on. I have used Southern Places during the construction of two of our homes. I first contacted her when we built in 1995 and then for our most recent construction in 2010. I would not dream of using anyone else. Pam McPeak is incredibly talented and hard working. I think it is the highest compliment to her when people tell us that our home looks like "us." That tells me that Pam took the time to get to know us and made our home a reflection of our personalities and not just what is trendy right now or what she likes. My husband went on to use Southern Places during the construction of two offices and has since used Pam for renovations on those offices.
