We worked with Stacy Paulson Design and Build for an extensive remodel of our home that included overhauls of our kitchen and bathrooms, and updates for painting, flooring, and lighting throughout. From start to finish, Stacy and her teams were a dream to work with. She was extremely responsive throughout the process and transparent with estimates and billing. We were impressed with the skilled subcontractors she brought on board who specialized in drywall, electric, structural engineering, plumbing, carpentry, etc. Additionally, Stacy navigated the city's complex permit process to ensure all projects were completed per code requirements. I highly recommend Stacy and look forward to working together on future projects.

Stacy and her team were wonderful to work with! I enjoyed their flexibility and consideration of my time and living arrangement. She helped doubled my kitchen storage and working space in my 1970's studio condo downtown, and made sure my place was livable through the entire process (which was a challenge since it is a 480 sq. ft. studio). Through the entire process she was very transparent and made sure to add room in the budget for potential hiccups based on her experience working on similar units in my complex. I'm in love with the final product and the quality of the materials used. I decided to go with Stacy because she was- 1. A woman contractor 2. Cared about the quality of the products used and people on the project 3. Asked to see my Pinterest board to understand my style 4. Past experience working on units in my complex. Also she by far had the best customer service compared to the other two contractors I had reached out to. Overall, the project was about 3.5 weeks long and within budget. I'd work with Stacy and her team again.

Have a 1 bedroom condo at Barton Place and had a "sad" ugly brown bathroom- mentioned to the condo ass. manager I needed to gut it and hated to think of the agony of construction while living in my permanent home, in Boston, MA. She said she knew a person who would make that easy! STACY PAULSON and her assistant KELLY BROOKS! I called her within a couple of days and gave her an idea of what I wanted and budget- ended up with a perfect design for my individual requests. She stays in close contact with progress and pictures- was the only PAINLESS construction I have ever had and I have been through total home renovations. When project was complete, and before final payment, she made sure the condo was spotless and all details were exactly as I wanted. I highly recommend this business.

I have work together with Stacy for 5 years now, on various projects. She is very professional & personally involved in each project. She listens to her clients about design and colors, but also lets me guide to quality products that will preform to her clients needs. Hope to work with her on many more together !

I have worked with Stacy Paulson for more than 7 years as her Accountant. She is professional, responsive and honest. We are using her for a $300k+ remodel of our home and it has been a pleasure dealing with her and her staff.

Stacy and I were connected via a mutual friend and she could not have been easier to work with. Stacy has a very creative and gifted eye and seems to be able to take any space, listen your your likes and dislikes, then bring it all together without batting an eye. Even if you have specific art work that must be hung and oddly placed windows that need help! I especially liked that she would bring me options, sometimes 4 or 5 of them. All of them would work, but she allowed me to choose the one I liked, thus making me feel like I had the artistic eye. Stacy was also very good at communicating before, during and after the project. I really liked that because I was not currently living in the house. I felt like I could trust her and her contractors without question. I also referred Stacy to my daughter. She and I have totally different styles, yet Stacy was on board and now my daughter and I are very happy clients. I highly recommend Stacy and her crew. Thank you Stacy!

She has excellent design ideas as you can see on her profile and her and the staff at Stacy Paulson Design + Build have always been exceptional to work with. Always positive and easy to work with. I have worked with Stacy Paulson Design Build since she began. I am in a position where I am able to pick and choose who I want to work with and I chose Stacy and her company because she is knowledgeable, detail oriented, customer centric and does the job right, every time to the satisfaction of her clients. She is a great communicator and the other trades enjoy working with her because of her professionalism, her high standards and the positive outcome of all her projects. I recommend Stacy Paulson Design Build to my clients as a worthy choice to trust with their home projects.

This review cost me about $8,000.00 and months of lost time on my remodel project. I would like to save other potential clients the risk having a similar experience with this contractor. This contractor bills as a interior designer / general contractor. Stacy is on the high end of the spectrum when it comes to cost. She charges $185.00/hr for "design work" and cost plus 25% for general contractor fee which is higher than standard. I hired her based on an excellent review from an acquaintance. Stacy has no related professional credentials that I could find, and as far as I can tell she is not a licensed contractor. But, the City of Austin does not require general contractors to be licensed. I hired her based solely on the one glowing review. This contractor sold herself as being better than the rest and I believed that is what I would get. Not quite. Several months into the project there was a misunderstanding regarding the type of wood used for kitchen cabinets. We were working from a sample photo I liked and what I got was not what I was expecting. As soon as I realized the cabinets were already built and not what I expected I asked Stacy to meet in person or at least have a phone conversation to discuss the misunderstanding over cabinet material. In response Stacy immediately ceased all verbal communication and would only communicate over email. She had my money and she would not speak to me. Stacy insisted (over email) that I ordered and approved the cabinet material that we ended up with. However, I was not given the opportunity to see a sample until the cabinets had already been built. Ironically, all that I wanted at that point was to have an honest discussion with my contractor about the mix-up, and how to avoid similar issues going forward. I did not ask for anything more than that. After several days went by with no returned calls and only occasional email communication telling me to accept the cabinets as they were because that is "what I ordered" I became increasingly frustrated and upset. This exchange culminated in a email from Stacy "suggesting" that I terminate her contract under her "Termination for Convenience" Clause. She was crystal clear that she wanted to terminate the contract but she wanted me to initiate the termination in order to give her the advantage of collecting questionable fees given the circumstances. I made an effort (over email) to salvage the business relationship but it was clear she would no longer work with me. At this juncture she had not secured City of Austin permits and no work had been performed on the remodel. I had made a $50K down payment on cabinets, garage door and a exterior siding contract, and she had billed for 12 hours of work ( which was some planning/design discussion and she placed three material orders). It took more than a month for me to untangle the outstanding accounts, get the City of Austin Permit Application under a new contractor's name and receive a refund for what Stacy believed was due back to me. Before termination of our contract Stacy was in possession of $50,000.00 of my money. Stacy had stated over email that should would help and expedite the transition of accounts and refund to me. In reality I had to do most of the work myself. In effect, she double billed me ("design" plus GC fee) to the tune of $8,000 for a few hours work, which included ordering cabinets without showing me a sample. I learned some valuable lessons with this experience and it cost me dearly. There are bound to be disagreements or points of contention on any large remodel project. The question is how will your contractor handle it when it comes up? If you are considering this contractor for your project do yourself a favor ... don't walk but run away as fast as you can.

My wife and I recently completed our 3rd project with Stacy Paulson Design Build. The projects prices ranged from $10,000 for repairing flood damage to $125,000 for a complete Kitchen, TV, living room make over. The most recent project was a make over of garage, laundry room, and a remodel of 2 upstairs bathrooms. All projects included new lighting. A 4th project, landscaping, is already planned with Stacy. Scheduling is TBD. In 23 years, three houses, and more than 15 projects...1 time we have used the same firm twice. Why?? There are 3 elements to ANY size project. 1. Budget 2. Quality 3. Time The problem is at best you can only control 2 of the 3. Pick your poison. Our experience has been there is nobody better at delivering 2 of 3 than Stacy Paulson Build Design. No, Stacy can not control the weather. Stacy listens and hears. She does the research. She is flexible. I am a numbers guy. Budget is always my highest priority. Budget is MORE than a number. There should be Value. Bang for the Buck. Stacy brought a unique, consistent High Value and Shared Vision to our projects regardless of size. Stacy was great at Over the years she has built a skilled team of Professionals across all the trades. It is refreshing. It builds confidence when the same craftsmen show up a 2nd and 3rd project and they enjoy their work. We are looking forward to starting that landscaping project.
