As first-time remodelers, we had a lot of concerns and questions. From the very start Ed, Andy, and their team were patient and respectful in explaining and helping us understand what to expect as the project proceeded. With their help, we were able to set up a temporary living space in our basement and stay in our home for the duration of the project. We appreciated Stern’s attention to detail, superior craftsmanship, and noted the pride they take in their work. They also made every effort to ensure that the quality of the work that was subcontracted also met or exceeded their high standards. They did a great job of managing and coordinating equipment and material deliveries as well as the work of the subcontractors, keeping our project moving and on schedule. There was always someone on site, occasionally just one or two individuals or sometimes multiple crews, working nearly every workday during the construction. They kept us updated on what to expect each week, the progress made and flagged any delays or changes that arose. They were also diligent about keeping the site tidy and safe and cleaning up at the end of each workday. As the project progressed to the finishing stages, Ed or Andy would frequently check-in with us to ensure that the work just completed met our expectations. Stern Construction came highly recommended to us, and we feel fortunate to have contracted their services for our own remodel. Having seen them in their element and expertise over the last five months, we, in turn, also highly recommend them and look forward to working with them again on future home projects.

Andy Stern and his team did a major deck build and interior remodel for us a year and a half ago. We have been enjoying it ever since and liked them so much we are exploring a new project with them! They were reliable, on time, on budget and fully transparent with billing and progress. The quality of the work is great and the team are easy to talk to. Stern Construction did an amazing job of rebuilding our ($1,000,000-$1,500,000) home lost to fire: * Exceptional fit and finish * Quality subs - well managed * Responsive * Keep their promises * Quality materials, skillfully installed * On time and on budget Our home of 30 years burned down in the late summer of 2022 - a total loss. Our friend and Architect - Rick Chesmore - recommended Stern and Company to rebuild our home. The owners of Stern and Company - Andy Stern and Ed Coke collaborated with us and Rick to design the new home to fit our desires and budget and to manage the permitting process. We signed a contract in early March of 2023 - and on December 1 - we moved back into our all new 1,800 ft2 home! That is essentially on-time from the original estimate made in March. From what we hear from friends and family who have done major construction getting a project of this size done on time and on budget like this is pretty unheard of. But we know why this happened: We watched Ed and Andy select exceptional sub-contractors that they subsequently closely managed to ensure on-time completion and quality of the work. We watched as exceptional project management led to required material arriving at the work site as planned. We watched as intense project management ensured there were NO appreciable delays caused by late sub-contractor work. We watched as quality material was selected. We watched as much beloved landscaping was minimally affected as possible, allowing us to preserve old trees and shrubs that add considerable visual appeal to the site and our own pleasure in the back yard. We watched as much care was lavished on our home-to-be. Now that we have been living in the home for several months, we are quite pleased with how the home looks, feels and functions. Any minor (and the few have been very minor like a gap in the caulking) corrections needed were completed in a timely manner. Friends and family who visit routinely remark on the quality of the home, how comfortable it is and how bright and well-lit it is. Our recommendation: Hire Stern and Company for your next home build or major remodel. You will be well pleased with the results.

We can not say enough good things about the team at Stern Construction. Andy, Ed, Bret, Jenn and all the subs treated our home as if was their own. The work was top notch, on time, and communication was great. The remodel of our kitchen, dining room, family room, and laundry room is beautiful and we cannot wait to work with the team again on other home improvements. I’m literally the pickiest person ever. I hired stern construction to build me a custom cabinet with live edge. I’d post a photo, but I want to wait until the entire project is complete. The workmanship was so stellar I hired him to finish a remodel after the cabinet was built. Andy is always on time, very considerate and careful in my home. He’s very trustworthy and does exactly what he says. I can’t wait to post a picture of my completed project. More to come...

Excellent work, and exactly what we were looking for. The plan and quote put together for us by one of the big hardware stores was what they wanted to sell us, and not what we needed or wanted. So glad we cancelled that and worked with Andy to get exactly what we needed. Adjustments we needed along the way were easily accommodated, and his recommendations were very well received. The end result is a quality built-in “second kitchen” with everything we wanted, where we wanted it. Quality, craftsmanship, finishes, and customer service like this are hard to find.

Andy is excellent to work with. I had approached him via Houzz with an idea to build a platform storage bed for my studio apartment. He replied very quickly and got the ball rolling on my project. He was able to get me a digital sketch of the bed within a couple of days, and was able to start working on the project. He was very communicative throughout the build, and happy to ask any questions I had. The install was straight forward, and he was very thoughtful of the tools (noise) he was using in an apartment in a large complex. The end result is a wonderful bed frame that allows for so much storage in a small apartment. It has really made a difference in our lives, and it is 100% exactly what I wanted it to be. I can't thank Andy enough! I will definitely be contacting him for any future custom needs.

Andy created a beautiful built-in bench and organizing system for our entrance way. Working with him was an absolute pleasure. He's an excellent craftsman, very organized, and a great communicator. I highly recommend.

I engaged Andy to build us a couple of built-in custom cabinets next to fireplace in the great room. We wanted it NOT to look like a retrofit and yet be affordable. The job not only involved selection of correct material but also finishing in a manner that looks like the original. Andy did an amazing job. I am fully satisfied as he is delivered on his promise. He is not only an excellent carpenter but has other handyman skills such as painting, caulking, patching etc. Please do not hesitate to hire him for small to medium size jobs. In fact we are going to recommend him for some custom work for my daughter's home. Thx Andy.

We loved working with Andy! Talented, professional and creative. We hired Andy with Onko Custom Woodworks for a few different projects during our kitchen remodel- mainly this Mahogany slab-top island. But also a very creative and decorative built-in shelving unit and also custom walnut handles for our pantry. Andy worked with us closely from step one and his craftsmanship is second to none. He drafted 4 or 5 different designs for both the island and the shelving unit that we were able to help revise until we came to the one that worked for us. It actually was fun! Everything went as planned, and we could not be happier with the finished product. It really brings our kitchen remodel to the next level. I highly recommend Onko Custom Woodworks for a wide variety of high end pieces, and would absolutely use them again in the future.

I hired Andy to build a cherry bench for our entryway. My wife and I are delighted with the bench he built for us. It shows a high level of craftsmanship with great attention to detail, including carefully matched boards. Andy is a clearly a skilled woodworker who cares about the quality of his work. Communication was good. I received 3D renderings of the design via email prior to build, and updates with photos during the build. Project was completed on schedule. Overall, we're very happy and would not hesitate to hire Andy again for custom woodworking projects.

Great work, high quality, and very reliable. I had two transition pieces made between my tile and hardwood floor. The quality is excellent, and the price was extremely fair. I'd recommend Onko to anyone looking to have custom woodwork done.
