About Us

Sweet Homes of Colorado Incorporated is a residential construction company specializing in custom home building, custom project management and general contracting. We have been building custom homes in Summit County since 1992. Through our dedication to detail, quality and customer satisfaction we have established an outstanding reputation around and beyond our home area of Summit County, Colorado. We have recently expanded into the Steamboat Springs area and are looking forward to becoming an integral part of that community. Sweet Homes was founded by Evan D. Wasserman and Eric P. Brownson in 1991. Mr. Brownson is currently the sole owner and President of the company. Mr. Brownson holds a degree in Mathematics from The University of Vermont. We believe that the essence of custom building is the seamless blending of an architect's vision with a homeowner's wants, needs and dreams. We are committed to building the finest custom homes possible while providing the homeowner with a unique and enjoyable experience. No matter the budget or size of the project, we believe that every home should have that special feeling of being one of a kind. I’ve always hear great things about this company, but when I called them to get info on a home they built over a decade ago, I was blown away how quickly they got me detailed information on an obscure item. Even though they knew they weren’t going to make a dime from me, they still went the extra mile to help me with my problem. Their customer service is amazing.

We hired Sweet Homes of Colorado to do a difficult and extensive remodel of our mountain home. We were very pleased with their professionalism and the high quality of their work. We were especially pleased with their ability to trouble shoot the surprises that came up and recommend cost efficient ways to get the job done. Eric Brownson is a can do, personable, hardworking contractor with a good crew. He recommended some much appreciated cost saving opportunities along the way, and also gave us recommendations for some value additions. The end project is beautiful and of good quality.

Sweet Homes built our house in Breckenridge CO during the economic downturn. Eric was able to make it through sub-contractors and suppliers going bankrupt, on top of the normal issues that always come up building a custom home ( this is our 4th one ). The real difference with Eric was not the building process, but the follow up after the home was finished.

I have had the pleasure of working with Eric at Alpine Mountain Ranch and Club in Steamboat Springs, an exclusive mountain retreat with lots starting at 1 million dollars and residences starting at 4 million dollars. We are in the planning stages and Eric has shown an expertise which is second to none. I have worked with many builders and Eric is one of the best. Recommende strongly.

Eric Brownson and his team of uber talented project managers and subcontractors constructed our 2500sf mountain home in 10 months, and did a fantastic job ! Our site is at an elevation of 10,500', and excavation was challenging as the home is perched on a ridge surrounded by rare bristlecone pines, and the design is a large open span of 48' in the main part of the home. Sweet Homes was further challenged by the architect supplying all of the interior finishes, stone counters, cabinetry, appliances, and fixtures which were delivered to the site and installed by their finish carpenters. Being an architect and involved in the construction industry for thirty years, I can say from experience that Eric and his firm, Sweet Homes were exceptional to work with; managing costs, staying on schedule, and keeping the lines of communication open at all times.
