TDS- Thurman Design Studio

Contracting with Laura of Thurman Design Studio was one of the best decisions I could have made in 2019. She did a complete guest suite redesign and remodel inclusive of a bathroom and kitchen. She transformed my neglected space into a show piece that is updated, chic and functional. My family could not be happier and friends are blown away with the unique touches. Laura is not just a great designer but as a person she is the bomb! She is funny, easy going and hip but don't be fooled she is pretty darn good at what she does. We recently completed our 2nd project with Laura in 2018 this past December. This job was considerably larger than the last and on a considerably larger scale. The house was under construction and Laura was so helpful in working with the builder so that all of the interior finishes were perfect. With her architectural background, she was very quick to point out any flaws in the builders workmanship. When this project kicked off in the summer, I was concerned the look and feel of the house would be similar, if not exact, to the previous job--but it was not. Laura really listened to what each of us wanted (Note--there are different tastes in my household). The library and the bar were reflective of my style and Laura really delivered. The living areas and bedrooms are very pretty, functional and comfortable. Once again, very pleased with how the house turned out. Thanks Laura!

I first contacted Laura when my husband and I purchased our first home. I was interested in designing our bedroom, living room, and office but did not necessarily have the time nor knew how to go about it. When I first met Laura, she was incredibly pleasant and professional. She helped me conceptualize what I style I wanted (transitional), and helped bring my ideas to life. She was able work around our busy schedule as well. We love her work, and would definitely use her in the future.

Having relocated from Los Angeles earlier this year, we were in need of some help in turning a newly constructed house into a home. The idea of hiring a designer was new to us. In California, we shopped in stores like Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware for furniture and accessories which found items in our house present in many others (which is embarrassing). For this new house, we decided to explore other options. We spoke to Laura briefly via telephone where she explained that she could actually create a space that would be far less expensive, of higher quality, and importantly, unique --and she was right! As mentioned, this was our first time using a professional designer. Laura's approach was very detailed—and kind of fun. After a few meetings to learn about our tastes, Laura invited us to her studio where she presented the vision she had based on what she had learned about us. The presentation had lots of options from paint to rugs to lamps to wallpaper to art--even detail on a blank wall. We felt we were very much a part of the design and we were surprised on the items that were available that were very different from what one would find in a store. Once the install was completed, the final product was amazing and her vision literally came to life! Our house went from white drywall and builder lighting to what I feel is an uber model home. Thank you for all your hard work and the fun we had pulling this together, Laura. I am looking forward to our next project we have planned!

We hired Laura to help us redecorate the main level of our two-story home. The creative way she dealt with the stuccoed walls in our dining room alone was amazing! We love everything she chose for us and she has really elevated our home's aesthetic. She is professional, friendly and very talented.

I always look forward to my appointments with Laura as she is an extremely talented designer with a strong point of view. It is refreshing to work with her as Laura is not afraid to incorporate vibrant color within her various design projects.

Laura is magnificent. She is professional, very knowledgeable, excellent work quality, and she communicates effectively and stays within the budget. it was such a pleasure to watch her transform the mess I had already in my foyer and living room to a georgous space. All my guest compliment me on how beautiful the area is. My only regret is, I wish I had contacted Laura sooner. If you are thinking about updating or moving to a new home and not sure what to do with decorating, I highly recommend Laura. I am looking forward to working with her again in the near future. Laura was a pleasure to work with! She has a good eye for paint color choice for large spaces. She was also very easy to work with. My outdated first floor is so light and bright now! Highly recommend her services.

Laura Thurman is an extremely talented designer and likeable, down-to-earth person. She first had me use Pinterest to learn my style preferences and did a great job communicating with me throughout the project. She helped expand our budget by purchasing high/low and updated our look with a blend of custom furniture, online purchases and use of our existing pieces. We absolutely love the outcome!

Designing comes natural to Laura. I have been working with her for at least 2 years now. She does an amazing job! She really takes the time to learn who you are and what you like in order to create the perfect package for you.
