After graduating from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with a degree in Landscape Architecture in 2004, I returned to Sonoma County and have worked in the landscape trade ever since. Over 17 years of working in a design-build setting has informed my designs, offering practical solutions, an opportunity to observe which plants and materials withstand the test of time, and an understanding of what projects actually cost to install. I especially enjoy creating water features, which bring motion, sound and often wildlife to a landscape. I am enamored with and inspired by the natural world and am a certified naturalist from University of California, Agriculture and Natural Resources. Just as the goal is to create a design that fits your needs, it’s important that the design process fits your needs as well. From a small backyard planting plan to a full landscape with an outdoor kitchen, shade structure, pool, et cetera, the design package can take many forms. A typical design though would include the production of a plot plan before beginning a conceptual landscape design that explores the creation of various outdoor spaces and land uses. This would involve a conceptual plan, as well as any drawings that may aid in the visualization of the project, such as 3D renderings using SketchUp or elevation drawings. Once the concept is approved, the next steps would be a planting and lighting concept, followed by another meeting and plant presentation using Plantmaster. A finished plan would then specify all hardscape, plant and lighting materials. If required for new construction, an irrigation plan and zoning map would be included as well as WUCOLS water use information. Landscape installation services coming soon.
