Precision Tile and Remodeling

Edgar and his crew did a perfect job on our bathroom tile - floors and shower walls. They were great to work with and I have recommended them to friends.

I'll stick with the facts: Edgar Gallardo gave me a quote that was slightly lower than average, and he was available with 1 week delay. Since I wanted my bathroom done, I ignored the red flags and hired him. The quality was poor, and now I have to live with it. 1. First, the tile guy LAID THE WRONG PATTERN on the floor, and ended up with about 35% overage, which meant I no longer had enough tile left over to do the other room I had planned to tile. I supervised the first day, we discussed the patterns, and the tile guy had no trouble doing it right the first day. But then the second day, he just went off and laid wrong tiles everywhere. This was expensive tile with a pseudo-versailles pattern (google "chester cream versailles"), and I bought the store out of the whole run, so there is no replacement. Since I can't afford to replace the floor, and since at this point I just wanted them gone from my house, I allowed them to replace a few strategically located tiles to make it look marginally better. But it still looks nowhere near as good as the actual pattern on the box. Other issues: 2. The tiles aren't even close to flat. The toilet rocks about 3/16" front to back. 3. The tiler bent the metal edge band to go around corners (instead of cutting 45 degrees). I made them fix it, but I shouldn't have to point out that garbage is garbage. 4. The shower walls are noticeably not flat. 5. The grout is clumped up around the shower window. The tiler left grout on the tiles and told us that we had to clean it up... he didn't even finish the job. 6. The tiler thinsetted a ceiling can light to the tile, so now it can't be removed/replaced without breaking the ceiling tile. 7. The tiler grouted the shower drain grate so that it can't be replaced without breaking up grout -- even though I told them I bought a matching (oil rubbed bronze) grate that I wanted to install instead of the silver one. 8. The plumber did not secure the fitting that holds the pipe to the shower head, so it wiggles a lot! 9. The plumber did not secure the bathtub filler to the floor, so it also wiggles a lot. 10. They installed the tub "rough in drain" ON TOP of the tile instead of on the subfloor like the instructions said. 11. During demolition, they pulled the drywall away from the wall in one place and then tried to hammer it back into place. There is now a big lump in my wall which used to be flat. 12. During demolition, they threw the old tiles out of a 2nd story window down onto landscaping gravel below. I will never be able to clean this up completely. There are now tiny shards of broken tile everywhere. I know now that at this point, I should have stopped the job. After the job, Edgar had the gall to bill me for almost 20% more charges, primarily because he said the cost of materials had risen, because he "didn't have an idea" about part of the job, and because I made a change that resulted in them installing LESS tile. I also declined to let them install the tub and shower.

I could not be happier with every aspect of the work done by Edgar and his crew. They handled a bathroom remodel that held many challenges.
