We hired HDB for an extensive renovation that we had been envisioning since we bought the house five years earlier, plus planning, budgeting + researching for over a year. I spent months interviewing contractors, but none of them felt like the right fit, but because of the scope of the project, I was very critical of who I trust with it. Which meant countless hours in what felt like an endless loop of conversations and quotes, then back to the internet to find another. I had almost given up finding someone, which meant giving up on our vision of what this house could be. I committed to one last Google Search - and that week, I talked to Todd on the phone for the first time. Before we ended that first phone call, I knew we would be hiring his company. I hired HDB, because of the almost immediate sense of trust I had in them: from day one, HDB was everything we hoped to find in a contractor: honest + transparent, consistent, thoughtful, with the kind of confidence that comes with years of hard work, not ego. After spending time to truly understand so much more than just our color/style preferences, but also our goals, priorities + needs, and lifestyle to ensure that it all made its way into the design plans that would completely transform our home from the ground up: - Build a brand new kitchen - open, beautiful, and functional - Raised the sunken living room to create a single-level space - Enclosing a previously useless space to create a functional home office - All new flooring, windows, doors, trim, modernized lighting, - Fresh paint on every wall, except for the massive one that they tore down, creating a light-filled space we had talked about since before we even bought it. Like I said, extensive. Made even more so by the fact that we decided to stay living in the house through the entire project (with me working-from-home). It would have been an absolute nightmare even with a really good contractor. Thankfully, HDB was so much more than that. Todd never overpromised or just told us what we wanted to hear, communicated clearly, respected our budget by advising us when to not spend unnecessarily, and didn't hesitate to push back candidly when he knew that saving a few dollars would sacrifice the longevity/quality of a product. Always patiently answering any question we asked (there were a LOT of them) ready to help us make the best choices. Ultimately, the space is beautiful, even months after the project completed, it makes me smile every time I walk in the front door or down the hallway. What stood out most though, was how they treated us, our kids and even our dogs - not just Todd and Kristin, but every single person that contributed to the project. The ONLY thing I'd change about the project is living in the middle of it. I will absolutely work with Todd and his team again, and recommend him to anyone looking for the kind of team they don't believe still exists: one with expertise, integrity, craftsmanship, and character.

We first hired Todd Hammond when we remodeled our kitchen. We were so pleased with working with him and his team that when we were ready to remodel our primary and guest bathrooms five years later, we didn’t even consider working with anyone else. The whole team at Hammond Design Build is outstanding. Todd and his designer helped us visualize a completely new space for our primary bathroom, and a beautiful upgrade to the guest bathroom. They helped us pick out materials that look fantastic. Every person on his crew did excellent work. They showed up on time, were respectful of our property, and they kept the work areas as tidy as possible. This was especially appreciated since we lived in the home throughout the entire remodel. Todd is quick to problem-solve any issues that come up, and both of our projects ended right on budget. His optimistic demeanor takes a lot of the stress out of the remodeling experience. We highly recommend Hammond Design Build for any home project.

Todd Hammond was an excellent contractor, and managed our project from beginning to end. His communication was excellent, the project was on time, his contractors were great, and I ended up with a stunning kitchen!

Fantastic Primary Bath Remodel Project Overview: We hired Hammond Design Build to overhaul our primary bathroom that was well overdue for an upgrade. It was a major remodel that involved changing the layout and installing new vanities, shower and free standing tub. All surfaces were updated including flooring & countertops. Extensive plumbing and electrical work as well as drywall repair. New pocket and man doors installed with all new trim, texture & paint. Heated floors and towel warmer were included. Recessed powered medicine cabinets were also installed. We were very particular about many of the products we wanted to use and they delivered. I can say that the end product was a fantastic dream bathroom. The overall process from budgeting, bidding, design & construction was great. At the time of our remodel Hammond assigned a project manager to work on the planning, scheduling & day-to-day details. Subcontractors were hired for all trades. Our project manager worked in remote setting. Todd checked in on the project throughout the week as the project progressed. Workmanship & Quality: In general work quality was great from most subs. We had a hiccup on a plumbing and bath fan that required a return trip however they were remedied without question. The tile work was superb and certainly a highlight of the job. There was a design error that involved our recessed medicine cabinets being installed too low to where they wouldn’t open once the faucets were installed. This was immediately addressed but did delay the turnover date for the project. Professionalism & Communication: Communication was excellent. At times having a remote project manager added a layer of complexity to working through details and issues that arose. As this was our first major remodel, we are unsure what the standard is, but we were expected to be onsite whenever there was an inspection required. Generally, we would have expected the project manager to be on site for these. This was fine for us since we have the flexibility to work from home, but could have been a problem if that were not the case or if it were a larger remodel requiring us to move out of our house. Subs seemed to rely upon on the plans for layout and direction. We were also asked to verify and support some of these decisions that needed to be made along the way. Timeliness: Generally, our project stayed on track. There were a few bumps in the road that caused the timeline to extend. Subs were on site almost every day which made the progress exciting to see each day we came home to check on the progress. Budget: We went slightly over our planned budget due to a few change orders that we requested, but we didn’t feel like there were any hidden costs that were sprung on us. Overall, we have very positive experience and would definitely reach out to Todd again for any future remodels.

Todd did a great job of keeping us informed over the 4 months it took to remodel two bathrooms. The people he worked with were also on time and very proficient at their jobs. Both bathrooms turned out very well and I would highly recommend Hammond for any project that you have.

What can I say about HDB? On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the best, HDB scores an 11. I worked with Todd, and Tracy for the design work. They listened to what we wanted and provided suggestions and support for our ideas/selections. Tracy was especially patient during the material selection process. In the end, we have a kitchen and bathrooms that we truly love. I worked with Todd and Kristen during the scheduling/construction process. The 2 month work schedule that Kristen presented before work started was spot on. We knew what would be happening, and with who, on any given day. The only hiccup(s) to the schedule were the inability to get a part for an appliance, and the unknown pipe leak that was discovered during the demo process. Todd got on the leak problem right away; the leak was fixed and the schedule unaffected. We stayed within our budget even with some of our last minute changes/choices and the unknown leak. Working with the Trades and HDB folks was a privilege. They were professional and responsive. They followed through with what they said they were going to do. They were also personable which I appreciate because of our sometimes goofy personalities. Again, I can't recommend HDB more highly. We even hired them for a second project. It too looks great. HDB will be our go-to contractor in the future.

Hammond Design Build has been a tremendous resource for all the projects on our home over the last few years. They are quick to respond when questions arise and continue to provide valuable insights to make our projects run more efficiently and smoothly. Also, every subcontractor they have recommended has been fantastic. We have appreciated prompt communication, a clean work environment, multiple choices and alternatives for our desired projects, and, most importantly, honesty when hard questions arise. We highly recommend considering them for your next project.

I started this review right after our remodel finished last August, then, as it does, life got in the way. That said, I think it’s a good thing that it got delayed because now I get to not only tell you about the process and experience, I get to tell you about living with HDBs work day to day. We started the process in the summer of 2021, working directly with Todd, we went through the full house, he helped us see the possibilities and was open to finding options that fit our budget. Once our remodel was able to begin we worked closely with the Design team looking at ALL the options. I appreciated their product knowledge and ability to find good choices in a time of supply chain crises. Our project manager was in touch constantly, helped us understand all the moving parts, kept us up to date and solved problems all with a great sense of humor. Now that the HDB team has moved on there isn’t a day I don’t walk through my house with gratitude for the work they did in bringing our dream to life.

Todd is a consummate professional. He designed and remodeled our beautiful kitchen 8 years ago. It still looks just as great to this day. Recently, we wanted assistance with remodeling our very outdated primary bathroom. Todd was there to shepherd us through the process and the finished product looks fantastic. Sure, there were some hiccups with the job. That can't be avoided. However, it is a testament to Todd's nature that he was always there to troubleshoot and move things along. We will definitely look into using Todd and his crew for future remodeling work.

I have worked with Todd on multiple projects, large and small. His professionalism, knowledge and experience of the industry is top level. Todd is an honest in his business transactions and he has always communicated in a timely manner.

While always a couple of glitches in any remodeling project, we found Todd to be very responsive in the follow up and correction of any concerns we had. Todd worked with us to design a kitchen that met both our vision and budget. This was our first remodel project, and we stayed within the existing footprint, a small area. Todd made a few suggestions for space and custom ideas that made significant improvements (such as use of sliding shelving in the built-in pantry). Todd and his staff were professional, responsive and positive throughout the process and the contractors doing the work were top notch. I would highly recommend them for remodeling projects.

We interviewed multiple contractors and when we met Todd my wife and I were impressed with his organized manner and his professionalism. He came with a system that we had not seen form any other contractors. He saw our vision and he shared his knowledge and know how with us. We were very glad we chose Hammond Design Build. Our renovation was a full kitchen renovation. Todd designed us a space that is usable and functional. He helped guide us away from trendy styles and into a space that is meant to be timeless. While our renovation was not without its headaches, Todd was able to help us make decisions and help us move through headaches. Hammond design build is made up of a great crew of people, everyone Todd sent to our home felt trustworthy and friendly. We were never worried about his subs. We are very happy we picked HDB.
