I was so lucky to find Jennifer on Houzz! I live in Virginia and I am helping my daughter renovate a 1920's apartment in Greenwich Village, New York. I wanted the apartment to retain its original charm, but updated at the same time. Jennifer understood the assignment immediately and guided me expertly through a kitchen redesign and the selection of finishes throughout the apartment. I was very happy with her selections and advice. Doing a project from afar can be tricky, and I so appreciated her professional communication style, ability to work with our architect and general contractors to help determine solutions and her excellent interpersonal skills. Jennifer was a great teammate!

When I bought my place in Tribeca, it was functional but empty, with a fair number of architectural quirks. I have my own quirks as well, like I have a ton of books and tools and things. A lot of stuff for a designer to work around :). I brought in a number of different designers over a couple of days, and Jennifer from JLW Interiors immediately stood out, there was never a question that she both knew her stuff and was super creative. Right off the bat she had some really great ideas, most of which we wound up building. The best thing about Jennifer for me is how she really built around what was already there, making everything fit and enhance the space rather than dominate it. For example, on the ground floor there was a large metal staircase and opposite was a wall that had a fireplace that was built into a somewhat oddly-shaped angled protrusion. She noticed that it kinda matched the angle of the staircase, and ended up building both an absolutely beautiful bar with custom tiles behind the shelves, angled to fit under the staircase, and a matching shelving setup next to the fireplace, also angled. She also did a pretty tricky stone installation for the wall that the fireplace was built into, it came out perfectly. There’s a large room on the ground floor that I wanted to turn into a library, and she really shined here - adding a full set of shelves (with a beautiful metal ladder) on one wall and a couch and a reupholstered antique chair on the facing wall. It’s an extremely comfortable room, I love it, it turned out better than I could have hoped. She also did a full redesign of the master bedroom and guest bedroom, picking out some really fantastic furniture. She’s also some kind of pillow master, there’s custom-made pillows with specific fabric for all of the seating areas. She was extremely easy to work with, I have a weird schedule and could really only meet once every couple of months, but she was always able to accomodate my schedule and was fantastic about getting stuff done while I was away. Always extremely well-prepared and efficient, we would meet and she’d have an agenda with multiple options and ideas, and we were able to simply go through everything, pick out fabrics etc and make decisions, and then she’d just get it done. The space was complicated, stairs and huge iron pillars everywhere, lots of stuff with character that I wanted to retain, and a reasonably complicated schedule, and that the process wound up being so seamless, with really zero major problems, no disappointments or surprises, is a real testament to her professionalism and attention to detail. Essentially a perfect experience, I wouldn’t hesitate to hire JLW Interiors again (in fact I plan to in another couple of years), and I’d recommend Jennifer to anyone. And I didn’t even mention the chandelier she found, or any number of other creative solutions she came up with - just a fantastic experience, I couldn’t be happier. An absolute gem.

Jennifer helped us renovate our kitchen and bathroom. She chose the countertop, cabinet fronts, paint, tile etc. and it all works together beautifully. She is very organized and has great taste and style.

Each piece is unique and fits with the beautiful fabrics she chose for the furniture. She is honest and and was able to work within the budget we discussed. We worked with JLW Interiors to decorate our Battery Park City apartment, which is our “second home”. We had a modest budget as this apt was always intended to be a transitional place. Jennifer helped us to create a very stylish, cohesive, comfortable, and very “us” space. We had a bunch of odd requirements - like the need to accommodate air mattresses in the living space for when our kids were here - and she managed to make it all work, while at the same time elevating the space into a beautiful and functional home. Our favorite part of the design was a gallery wall of our vacation photos that she created. I follow JLW Interiors on social media now, and I look forward to working with her in the future on other projects. She is a very talented desginer and a pleasure to work with.
