It is definitely possible, and, yes, it is expensive, but only you can decide if it is prohibitive. (Mine was $2400 for 43 sf including installation.) Definitely talk to a glass shop. You'll need to find one that has done this before because the templating can be tricky. I used a satin etch to avoid the mirror effect of regular glass and I have been very happy with it. I also put a porcelain tile on the wall behind the sink and the countertop material (Caesarstone) behind the range to keep the glass away from the splashiest spots.
